The day after Solstice (and the parade and street fair out in Fremont/Seattle and a visit to Seattle's sculpture garden where we learned that BIG=ART), we opted for a dose of Nature. 'Twas a lovely drive up to Deception Pass where we enjoyed a delightful day of perfect weather. We picnicked, frisbee'd, bubbled, lazed on the beach, beachcombed, walked, saw bald eagles, and just had a ole fine time. Then we fruitlessly (mostly, 'cept for a few vertebrae and some toe bones) dug for llama. Anyway, I'm nearly caught up w/my pics from the summer. It's been a busy one so far w/more to come...

Mebbe I haven't said it recently, but I'm thoroughly enjoying sharing the wonders and joys of WA and life w/[livejournal.com profile] lightfoote and [livejournal.com profile] wildwoosi and feel incredibly lucky and privileged to have each and both of them in and sharing in my life.

After the wedding, we fled Vegas early the next day to make it to AJ's in time for a fambily dinner. Initially taking the standard route to SoCal, we quickly bailed on Hwy 15 in favor of a more pleasant journey through the Mojave. (Yeah, this way we also got to enjoy date shakes at Hadley's...mmmmm, date shakes.) It's been years (decades, actually) since I camped there, but this drive brought back good memories of Hole In The Wall, Kelso Dunes, and Mitchell Caverns. Clickie for Pickies.

On our way from Redding to Bishop via Lassen on 7/9/08 (day 2), we drove by then had to back up and check out the wonderful stuff at Man of Steel Art. No llamas, sadly...but mebbe given time/encouragement they'll whip one out! The following day (Bishop-Las Vegas) found us visiting the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, home of the oldest living things on the planet.

The final day of the Toad Rip (7/17/08) found us captured (quite willingly) into the Vortex that included the Rogue River, the House of Mystery/OR Vortex, Crater Lake, SNOW!, and Hwy 138. Clickie for S'more Pickies

Okay. NOW I'm caught up w/photos. Mebbe. Um, methinks I never actually posted mine from F-Worlds last year...

So, apparently I'm woefully behind on posting olde pics to Flickr. This set includes the initial creation and 1st appearance of [livejournal.com profile] ebony_sphynx's Dirt Faerie from last year's FaerieWorlds at the previous w'end's Labyrinth of Jareth Ball (2007). (I have no photos of previous incarnations of the Dirt Faerie but would love to find/get/see some!) It also documents the creation of this icon. I was Fire. She was Earth. Sadly we couldn't find anyone willing and able to join us as Water or Air.

Anyway, Clickie for Pickies And thx yet again to the airbrush artist extraordinaire! Mebbe next year we'll lure/drag/entice you to come up to F-Worlds...
