It's a freakin' DESERT here! I could ignore it when I had/chose to live here, but no longer. If'n I hadn't spent the last 1/2 of my time in SoCal in Santa Monica I'd be pretty sick 'bout spending the last 1/2 of my life in SoCal. I like/need/desire GREENERGY. Today I'll hit the Westside and perhaps even dip my toes into the Pacific Ocean. Yesterday's MouseHouseness )

Repeated repeatedly, for no apparently reason...someone must've kept hitting the restart button. Mildly amusant. What a delightful day! Left for b-fast this morning...and just got home. Decided since we were heading Southward anyway (camping stuff swap & Greek for lunch in Long Beach after scoring big-time w/costumes from a friend who was getting rid of things & stuff), why not hit D-land for the day. Why not indeed! It's marvelous how great it makes me feel. Right now I'm up Up UP (whilst also fairly exhausticated physically) without being manic in the slightest...yay Yay YAY! Not nearly as hot or crowded as we/you might've thought, which made it that much better. D-Land & Other Details )

Luckily [livejournal.com profile] delerium3 served as the Designated Reasonable Shopper so I put it back. (She later yearned for Darth 'Tater - a Mr Potato Head offshoot - but showed admirable restraint in putting it down and backing away slowly.)

Sometimes theme songs make themselves known (as opposed to being chosen), such as the current one ("Tell Me Something Good" by Rufus), which has insinuated itself into my psyche quite nicely, thx in part to its addition in the hallowed #3 track spot on my most recent compilation. It began when some random guy played it on the 'lectric geetar out on Venice Beach this past Sat afternoon. Thinking I had it, I scooped up the collection most likely to find it in, and there 'twas on the 1st one I looked at, so I stuck it onto my newest CD-compilation on Sat night. And then today, putting the icing on't: we were chatting with (up, whatEVER) our fave D-land band and out of the blue the stand-up bass player starts playing it (we'd made NO mention of it!). The bit in particular that keeps me turning the volume up to 11 (w/funky bass-line and all) (approx 1.5 minutes into it):

"Got no time" is what you're known to say
I'll make you wish there was [sic] 48 hours to each day
The problem is you ain't been loved like you should
What I got to give will shore 'nuff do you good...

Good visit w/[livejournal.com profile] redefining_self and, once she escaped from work, [livejournal.com profile] delerium3. And I didn't drive either way!D-land Details )O'morrow: San Diego (Balboa Park, museums, seafood for dinner, see Danno for fun). Wed: D-land pt 2 (slightly diff crew). Th: to Big Bear through Sun afternoon. Wheeeee!

'Twas a good day, even though it started off rather interestingly and haphazardly, blah blah blah & D-land Details )

Utterly exhausticated now. Plan to read the rest of The Lunatic Cafe in a hot bubbly bath, then collapse in bed and get some well-deserved slumberzzzzzzz

Led a class fieldtrip to D-land, specifically to the modified (reImagineared) Pirates ride, where rather than riding boats we waded waist-deep (neck-deep for the smaller chilluns), clinging to inflatable torpedoes. Note to designers: the leeches must GO. Ended up at some point at the House which features in many many of my dreams. I could swear (but I'd be lying) I've been there (really it's only in my dreams)...but it's great and I love exploring whenever I make it there...found new rooms w/suits of armor...the kids (and adult supervisors) dossed down whereever they felt like. Luckily no Creatures of the Night appeared this time. (Guessing it's no longer Zombie Season.) For some reason I associate the house w/my paternal grandmother. Some similarities exist, 'cept the kitchen's main theme is now bees rather than pineapples. (Hell, it's been redone since years ago when it went pineappley so I'm not sure what 'tis in real life - nor do I really care, 'cause this so ain't real life, 'cept my dreams are really truly mine and part of my life even if not as accessible as other parts of my life.) Also reconfigured Star Tours so it lets out into an area w/a huge Star Wars arcade and gift shop w/numerous human-sized Lego DeathStars and Darth Vaders. 'Twas virtually empty (as the ride often is these days). Still thinking they need to update it w/Serenity-related voyages and images. It'd a be a bit harsh w/the pilot dying horribly at the end of each ride, I guess...but it'd certainly grab your attention! Went and visited some olde friend (never seen him before in my life, only in dream-land) who's now working for D-ney. Helped him find his office. Odd setup, w/all the proprietary files OUTSIDE the office. Thus, the file cabinets remain unlocked and exposed to the elements at all times, which strikes me as not the typical D-ney way of keeping things & stuff safe from prying eyes (and fingers of dampness). 'Kay, that's all I can recall now...quite a lot for me actually though. Obvious influences: School of Rock (watched it last night), upcoming and past D-land adventures, recent Star of India visit (w/field trip in progress).

'Twas a lovely post-rainstorm crisp clear mountains-showing day today. Tonight featured a perfect Cheshire Cat moon. Spent another fab afternoon/eve at D-land w/[livejournal.com profile] delerium3. And no, I haven't forgotten...we plan to spend a long full day w/you, [livejournal.com profile] redefining_self at the Mouse House, but this wasn't the full day's worth which you deserve. It was also far more crowded than usual. Is there some weekday (or w'end day if need be) 'tween January 16, 2006 and January 29, 2006 or some day that's not a Monday or Wednesday 'tween Jan 29 and Feb 9 that'd work for you? Many of these daze are free and available. After that, school starts interfering on many weekdays, although w'ends will often still work. D-land Details )

Ping [livejournal.com profile] shutt3rg33k: we're on for Carmel Highlands for Wed, 1/11/06. I'll give you a shout that morning (or Tu - or call my cell whenever) and we can head out in the afternoon/eve/whenever. You're welcome to spend the night. We'll enjoy a roaring fire, a bottle of wine, a damn fine time!

Marathon

Interesting: a 16-hour+ D-land marathon works as an emotional Etch-A-Sketch. Nothing's bothering me, b'c I'm numb after so much adrenalin, sugar, and exhaustion. I've been picked up, turned upside down, and shaken (not stirred). 'Twas a great day. Didn't feel as crowded as it was...prolly 'cause most folks were spending their time in the 2-hour waits for Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, etc. rather than interfering w/our plans or getting in our way. Waited no longer than 30 minutes for any ride and often far less. Got four (4) rides in during the 1st two (2) hours! Introduced a neice to T-Mtn after much cajoling, convincing, and discussion. After the 1st round of twists and turns, she turned around and declared that it's her new fave ride. (Yes!) To repeat once again: I LOVE FIREWORKS! D-land Details )
Up next: hot shower (it's brrr cold in here) followed by sleeeeeep. O'morrow: ? travel somewhere up the 101 someplace in the next county (or so) for body paint....hopefully more later.

Yesterday was really quite good to a point (1.5 hour beach walk w/great sun & clouds followed by a cool-down stroll along the 3rd Street Promenade and a successful Vicki's Secret run followed by nice movie and cheese and wine and dinner and chocolates and talking and hanging out), then it sucked (primarily vicariously for me). Could've been far worse. Stuff that needed to get done at the time got done. Ended up mellowly and nicely for me, if late. Today was good, 'cept I was running on too little steam and ended up feeling pretty beat as the day progressed. Still, fireworks always make me happy to be alive! 'Twas an E3 (tm) adventure at the Mouse-House. D-land Details )

T is for Tired and it rhymes w/P which starts off Pool and Pop (Pure Pop for Power People) and Pox. Sleep dep experiment currently underway. It pleases me to inspire insipidity & insanity & bubble-gummness. Wife #1 & #2 serenaded H this eve - delightful fun. Traffic sucked today, in a bad sorta way, but no matter - I live to drive. Managed to spend a very nice at D-land and only hit TWO (2) rides (Haunted Mansion & the All Aquatic Carousal over in CA). Basically hung out and treated the place like our backyard, music-listening, shopping, people-watching, fashion-ragging, coffee-sipping, lunch-crunching, munch-munching...an easy day of hot SoCal pleasure. Once again folks assumed we're sisters: most amusing. The same last name confuses 'em. Explanations not proferred.

And now. Yes. Now. Part of me wants to see how far I can push myself, see how much I can take, get out there and keep having FUN 'cause there're good folks all out to get together and mingle and jingle jangle all night long (or at least 'til the wee hours)...but a part of me (the more sensible portion) knows it's best to curl up into a l'il ball and SLEEEEEEEP. Bah. Will drink hot tea w/honey (apply inner wet warmth) and take a long hot shower (apply outter wet warmth) and see how I feel.

EDIT: It's 8:20pm and I'm officially dead. Smallest chance in hell I'll drag my bod outta here later for funbrewpubishness, but it seems highly unlikely. Curling up into l'il ball now. ZZZzzz...

Great Day

Lavish superlatives won't do it justice. Mega-fab day. Long long day. Soooo sleeeepy. Up before 4am. Left LAX pre/at-dawn, when the yellow was starting to show and the image of plane tails w/the start of sunlight glinting put me in mind of lobster tails and melted butter. Then: wine, dine, dancing, falling, riding, laughing, singing, enjoying life the universe and everything...and FIREWORKS, which always make me SO happy. D-land Details )

Spent the day wearing the jeans & top that I haven't worn since the two (2) day weeding/burr-chasing expedition a while back and even though I've plucked loads of pricklies off and they've been washed and dried, I'm still finding (and certainly feeling) loads of l'il sharp pointy weedlings in my clothing: my hairshirt. And pants. Daring Adventures )

Motto: All Your Base Metal Are Belong To Us. Coming soon to a Faire near you...but only if'n you happen to be several hundred miles North of here. That's upcoming. Here's what's been: D-land Diary )

Off on a Rad Rade o'morrow. Synchronicity's hitting big time and hard these daze. I'll think of something, phrase it some particular way, then the next thing I know (or shortly thereafter), I'm reading stuff along very similar lines.
mlerules: (Default)
A gaggle? A giggle? An ennui? A manifestation? An infestation? A grove? A groove? (Really wanting something alliterative, in case you couldn't tell.) A gathering? A murder? (No, that's crows.) A shimmer? (Nope, that's butterflies). A herd?

EDIT: A gang?

Yesterday at D-land was marvie, 'cept 'twas too bleeding hot. Kept to the 20 minute max ride line length rule. Actually made it through everything w/only 5-10 minutes wait. Finally did Space Mountain! Quite fun, but not hugely different from what I remember it. Fresh and new rather than olde and worn. Still prefer California Screamin' (now closed 'til OSHA deems it safe again) - THAT's the bestest RC ever!

Finally got around to exploring the 2/3 of Downtown Disney we didn't even know existed. There's a House of Blues there (well, I KNEW this, but hadn't found it before), and a mess more restaurants, and a huge LEGO store w/R2D2 squeaking and Darth V breathing heavily - made completely outta Legos! And a 2-story tall giraffe and a cute kitty...and much much more: COO-EL! At one stand you can get your hair beaded, like at Venice Beach - only for many more times the price and w/out quite the good selection of beads.

Ride Log )

Ran into just 'bout all the gothlings I know, all together in one [INSERT APPROPRIATE MULTIPLE DESCRIPTOR HERE], which was fun and satisfying.

May return to D-land on Wednesday, but really hoping this next D-day trip doesn't happen 'til next week, as I'm leaving town this Th for Carmel, returning on Monday (Labor Day itself) hopefully in time (and with energy) to jet off to the H'wood Bowl for Rocky Horror, so need to pre-sleep to make up for what I'm surely gonna miss this w'end.

Hmm, just realized that I'll not be wearing the black & white stripey pants after all, but will instead don the black silk bloomers, so will prolly go w/the white top after all, but will offer the red to [livejournal.com profile] delerium3 if'n she's feeing so inclined. And I may toss on red sox for fun (and to match the red banadana since I have no pirate hat). Mebbe I need to go get a D-land pirate hat 'tween now and then (in the next 2 daze). Hmm, I'm travelled further for less...we shall see.
