A Quiet Day

Overdid it last week, apparently. Had two (2) good but hard PT days and in-between, a 1.5 hour walk at Crystal Springs Rhodie Garden. I took at least a half-dozen bench breaks, and only walked a mile and a bit, but it did tire me out. (Also drove a few hours and took a train ride wearing the boot one day last weekend.) Apparently all that was Too Much.

Did a good, hard PT on Tuesday, followed by a fairly quiet afternoon and evening. Spent a pleasant couple of hours in the backyard, enjoying the warmth, Spring air, and HM greenergy. Managed to finish up a couple Mix-Tapes (CD compilations), including burning 'em despite technical difficulties).

Went to Vernonia yesterday. Plans went agley, but had a good time, nonetheless. Pretty walkies, albeit far shorter than expected/desired/planned. A fine lunch. Wrote some cards & mailed 'em. I listened to my body and stopped before going too far. Enjoyed pretty views, luscious smells, blossoms & birdies, good companionship, blahblahblah Crawled in bed before 9pm. Got up sometime after 9am.

Had mellower aka modified PT today. This is all part of the program. It's not all straightforward and positive. Yeah, yeah, it's generally progressing and I'm healing blahblahblah But I'm annoyed. And frustrated. *sigh*

For the rest of the day, I've had a pleasant mellow time of tea-drinking, news-reading, music-listening, weather-watching, mix-tape making (and burning &c.), WWF'ing, supper-making (bachelor chow feed of meat stick aka summer sausage, crudites (celery, cuke, tomatoes), crackers, and cheese (cheddar & Brie). Sleep will come soon. No need to wake up early. Tomorrow's another day...

Today just gets better and better! It's the nicest weather of 2023 so far: sunny & 60. E2 took me out walkies. We went slowly and stopped at various benches to rest, soaking up the sunshine like lizards whenever possible. Saw about a hundred Canada Geese flying around, and various other waterfowl in the water, as well as some primrose and many hellebore in bloom. Even spotted some rhodie blossoms! I did it! Feeling a bit sore and tender now, but happy as that proverbial clam! YayPhew!

Okay, more stumping towards it, but whatEVER... ;-P I woke up earlier than the bedmate, and didn't feel like lazing 'bout any longer. So I strapped on my boot, stuffed my right foot into its shoe-inside-riser contraption, and began my day on my own. After performing my morning ablutions, I put on something approaching grown-up clothes, made myself a cuppa tea, grabbed a banana for breakfast, and began reading news and this and FB. Love feeling more like I can live life on my own terms now. YayPhew!

Just a few days ago I said something 'bout putting something on the calendar for every few days instead of multiple things scheduled for each day. Well, pretty quickly - as in later that same day - I filled up my calendar with items (usually just one per day, although tomorrow has several errands on't, including a Costco run) for each day through Friday. Saturday's GooCal now has "PLAN NOTHING BIG FOR TODAY" on it.

I hadn't planned to go out into the backyard and stroll around and do some gardening yesterday, but I did. And it felt SO good, both doing it and being able to do it on nothing more than a whim! Greenergy is healing.

Okay, stating here in hopes that it helps me remember and abide by this rule. I need to make sure I don't overload my schedule. It's okay if'n I do more than intended, but I don't want to COMMIT to too much, as who knows when exhaustion'll hit. I bowed out of something that started at 8pm last night. Yay for feeling up for it earlier in the week, but OMG what was I thinking?! At least it was an online thing and I let folks know I wouldn't be joining in, and my presence wasn't needed.

Thankfully, the weather's still mostly chilly and wet, so I don't feel like I'm missing TOO much by not getting out and about more often. The lovely iconic Portland Japanese Garden cherry tree's still a few weeks away from blooming. THAT - and the downtown cherries when they bloom 'tween Burnside & Steele Bridges - will likely get me across the river for the first time this year!
