Even if'n I'm not having a proper Date Night. Made a damn fine chili and watched So I Married An Axe Murderer and polished off a fine bottle of questionable ("?") wine courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] dritikol, who always provides fine imbibements...even if'n I'm not there to enjoy it...or he's not here to enjoy it, as 'twas the case tonight. Gonna continue taking it mighty easy o'morrow, 'cause I'm planning to be alive and functioning quite nicely for the w'end thank you very much.

EDIT: As noted, the wine was quiet good. The "questionable" comment merely referred to the name of the wine, simply a question mark ("?"). Happy now, [livejournal.com profile] dritikol? ;-P

FEELING LIKE SHOUTING 'CAUSE I'M SO HAPPY AND GLAD AND PLEASED AND FEELING GOOOOOD. GOTS THE BEST PRESSIE TONIGHT: STAR POLISHER; SPIDER WEB; SPINNING/TURNING WHEEL; SUNRISE/SUNSET. ALL GOES SO WELL. I NEED TO LEARN HOW TO TIE BETTER KNOTS.

Here's one: INSPIRATION. Dunno whether it arrives from without or within, but it struck this afternoon. I'm now roasting a chicken stuffed w/rosemary I just snipped from the pot and an entire lemon that I've forked, smeared all over w/olive oil and ground pepper and some fresh rubbed rosemary. Also trying the pasta w/carmelized onion dish my dad made in Nova Scotia. Cannot quite remember what to do, so it might not be just the same, but with luck it'll be yumbly anyway. Also on menu: organic string beans from the farmer's mkt (just gonna steam 'em, nothing more) and a tossed salad. Dessert = leftover sour-cream choco cupcakes.

Sigh

of happiness & contentment & bliss. I, too, can be silly at times. Feeling good and much better and quite loved now.

To the tune of "Painting the Roses Red" (from Alice), although really, I keep hearing "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" (from Wiz of Oz). Another good Tuesday night w/E3 & [livejournal.com profile] deviantgrrrl. Opted for Thai chow delivered this eve, 'cause I was feeling lazy. Tossed the remaining mulberries into the blender along w/lemon juice, honey, several ice cubes, much of the leftover fruit slad, and a mess of vodka. Summertime = mulberry vodka ice in tiki cups. (Hey, wanna come harvest some more sometime [livejournal.com profile] ebony_sphynx?) Have delegated cooking duties and responsibilities amongst us, which'll make for ease of camping and whatnot for this year's Middle-earth Fellowship/Festival w'end after next. Hmm, thinking we need also to e-mail/chat w/[livejournal.com profile] redefining_self to see 'bout including you in this, too, if'n you like. Can't remember/don't know what you won't eat/don't like, but thinking you're pretty easy. ;-)

[livejournal.com profile] delerium3 made dinner then we headed out to Finn McCool's for Irish music. Life's good, even though her teeth hurt and my voice is GONE.

Watched "Lemony Snicket: A Series of Unfortunate Events" the other night, so tonight's dinner consisted of Pasta Puttanesca and steamed squash w/glorious desserts provided by the sweet [livejournal.com profile] deviantgrrrl): cakes (choco & lemon) which now resemble PacMen (thx!).

Tuesdaze continue apace. Beads and tossing 'em when appropriate. Curry. Goodness. Stripes (red). New star light. FireDogs. Sigh (of happiness and pleasure and pleasedness).

(1) No concert is complete until someone stands (preferably unsteadily), shoves a lighter in the air (in this day and age a glow stick will suffice), and shouts out (often slurredly) "FREEBIRD!"

(2) No role playing adventure is complete without a good opportunity to shout out "Monkey! Monkey!! Monkey!!!" It's not actually necessary to shout this aloud if'n doing so would subject the party to death or dismemberment by vicious pirates, zombies, or orcs, but the opportunity must arise and one must at least log it in one's diary which'll be found decades later, perhaps after the bones have been picked clean and scattered about the plain/desert/vacant asylum, ideally published by Arkham Press in a small skin-bound volume stored away in the basement of the local library w/death-seals and strange symbols adorning the Special Collections door.

(3) February is Official Storage Shuffle Month. 'Twas a few years back that I spent VDay helping my bro empty his storage unit - into my garage, which I'd foolishly partially emptied of my own carp only to have it refilled w/car parts (Chevelle grill, tires, carburetors, etc.), movie posters (some of these still reside downstairs), and the unlike. Today I helped a friend empty one storage unit and redeposit the carp into another one. The former was a filthy deathtrap - including the new scariest hazardous waste sighting: a clear gallon jug filled to the brim w/used hypodermic needles & syringes and spotted inside w/nasty-looking PBFs - whilst the latter was a clean, secure, climate-controlled pleasant place to store tons of junk & carp. Never really thought I'd be seeing - much less moving - this carp again. Amusing. I remember stories & specifics 'bout many of the items we moved. Her mantra quickly became "I love him, he's a good man," repeated regularly as we waded through boxes of empty boxes, some of the contents of which I know for a fact no longer exist, having been broken, given away, tossed, or otherwise consumed in the flames of "what the hell is this carp?!" way back when I was married to the boxes' owner.

Dealing w/other peoples' carp helps me deal w/mine own. Returned to my casa and started boxing up some of my books. Some'll head to Big Bear, others to whichever bookstore and/or library'll take 'em, and a couple of school-related boxes (textbooks & notes) will soon reside in the garage. Feels so goooood to reduce some of the clutter!

Good eve: good food, good people, good beer, good TV (BlackAdderIII), w/colouring books (Alice in W-land & Muscle Cars) & gel pens, and much giggling.

EDIT: 1:00 a.m. 12/27/05 compilation done & burned. Will give it listen o'morrow (and Th as well if req'd) and modify as needed. Feels good to have gotten something done, even if post-Road Trip. More likely to do this pre-, but for whatever reasons things got switched this time around.

Happiness & joy & snuggling & The Balvenie DoubleWood (aged 12 years) & numbly Cookie Day (tm) Carmel/Candy Corn & Labrynth (never had seen it, having somehow convinced myself it was Dark Crystal which I tried to sit through but couldn't, so now I've seen the error of my ways - and the movie - and enjoyed it very muchly): Life's sweeeeet. Tuesdays rock!

Must now:

- pack for 11-12 daze away (including for a play and for Dickens in full proper Victorian garb)
- make room for carp in the car so there's space for what I'm packing
- get wet cat food & kitty litter
- finish (as in DO) x-mas shopping (including maple sugar candy...mmmmm, maple sugar candy)
- make further arrangements for where I'm gonna stay whilst I'm away

Yesterday was really quite good to a point (1.5 hour beach walk w/great sun & clouds followed by a cool-down stroll along the 3rd Street Promenade and a successful Vicki's Secret run followed by nice movie and cheese and wine and dinner and chocolates and talking and hanging out), then it sucked (primarily vicariously for me). Could've been far worse. Stuff that needed to get done at the time got done. Ended up mellowly and nicely for me, if late. Today was good, 'cept I was running on too little steam and ended up feeling pretty beat as the day progressed. Still, fireworks always make me happy to be alive! 'Twas an E3 (tm) adventure at the Mouse-House. D-land Details )

Sucessful fun shopping expedition today w/[livejournal.com profile] nakeygirl and [livejournal.com profile] twistedcat (red petticoat & toe sox procured, along w/wickedly good Gothic Lolita mag), followed by a quickie LAX run (always a bridesmaid, never a bride), and then dinner of hearty soup & bread followed by salivatingly yumbly pumpkiney pieness ([livejournal.com profile] stacymckenna ROX!). Next up: a bit of sleep then Toad Rip to NoCal for T-giving! Life's goooooooood. Many thx to you all for being a part of it.

Chicken Marengo, mashed yams, some veggie or other, spinach salad and then...PB Banana ice cream.
mlerules: (Default)
I'm gonna sleep well tonight...
mlerules: (Default)
...as my fave daze of the week, even if they don't go as planned. Went back to basics tonight. Headed to Finn McCool's for dinner (w/leftover corned beef & cabbage for lunch o'morrow). No music tonight. Hopefully back again next week (and thereafter). Didn't matter. Loved the look of the lights in the trees, the salty tang of the sea air, the buzz of conversations all around me...keeping me company as I read and ate. Feeling far more at peace then I've felt in a while. Not sure what was needed, but somehow something clicked and I got whatever 'twas. Mellow joy and contentment. It's good stuff.

EDIT: And now my door's adorned w/two prints* - one of Fargo and one of Havana, 'cause a friend's taking print-making and used the kitties as models for her sketches. Happy Happy Joy Joy!

* Guess they're "adoornments."
