The day after Solstice (and the parade and street fair out in Fremont/Seattle and a visit to Seattle's sculpture garden where we learned that BIG=ART), we opted for a dose of Nature. 'Twas a lovely drive up to Deception Pass where we enjoyed a delightful day of perfect weather. We picnicked, frisbee'd, bubbled, lazed on the beach, beachcombed, walked, saw bald eagles, and just had a ole fine time. Then we fruitlessly (mostly, 'cept for a few vertebrae and some toe bones) dug for llama. Anyway, I'm nearly caught up w/my pics from the summer. It's been a busy one so far w/more to come...

Mebbe I haven't said it recently, but I'm thoroughly enjoying sharing the wonders and joys of WA and life w/[livejournal.com profile] lightfoote and [livejournal.com profile] wildwoosi and feel incredibly lucky and privileged to have each and both of them in and sharing in my life.

Digging for llama?

My mom's hubby (a physical anthropologist) collects bones/skulls/skeletons. [livejournal.com profile] wildwoosi had buried a dead baby llama on her property several years back so we went to disinter it for the skeleton, but only managed to find a few bones despite digging quite a good sized pit.

Ooooh. I thought you were digging in the state park and wondered why there were llama bones there. Maybe some tended herd of llamas got loose and now they stalk the pass!

An animal could've taken it or mebbe it all sunk from water/subsidence. There's a Twilight Zone episode in there somewhere... ;-P

Thx.

Deception Pass is one of my most favorite Washington destinations; there's a beach there I can wonder in the water for hours combing through rocks.
