After the wedding, we fled Vegas early the next day to make it to AJ's in time for a fambily dinner. Initially taking the standard route to SoCal, we quickly bailed on Hwy 15 in favor of a more pleasant journey through the Mojave. (Yeah, this way we also got to enjoy date shakes at Hadley's...mmmmm, date shakes.) It's been years (decades, actually) since I camped there, but this drive brought back good memories of Hole In The Wall, Kelso Dunes, and Mitchell Caverns. Clickie for Pickies.

Now I am curious. Are you uploading these as taken or do you post-process them at all? You have a great eye for framing and composition, and whatever DoF you are using is awesome; your images really pop!

Thx, sweetie! I've actually been feeling unhappy recently w/something to do w/the lighting for many of my pics (overexposed and/or not showing the color in the sky if'n it's really bright), so I take a whole mess then pick and choose which to upload. I pretty much just down/up-load as is (via iPhoto), although now and again I'll crop a picture to get rid of someone making a particularly goofy face. Um, what's DoF?

Depth of Field, how much of the image is in focus. You have a knack for making images in the foreground really stand out.

If you are using a P&S, I suspect it has a very dynamic sensor for choosing aperture settings. Nice.

It's a Canon Digital Elph (PowerShot SD600). Oh, just realized that [livejournal.com profile] delerium3 actually took some of the pics. (We each downloaded each others' pics onto each others' laptops.) Her camera's a slightly older version of mine.

I've never been to the desert so thank you for sharing the pics. During the slide show I was singing Kimya Dawson's Tree Hugger:

And in the sea there is a fish
A fish that has a secret wish
A wish to be a big cactus with
A pink flower on it

And in the sea there is a fish
A fish that has a secret wish
A wish to be a big cactus with
a pink flower on it

And the flower
Would be its offering
Of love to the desert
And the desert
So dry and lonely
That the creatures appreciate the effort
