A Cheshire Cat Moon

'Twas a lovely post-rainstorm crisp clear mountains-showing day today. Tonight featured a perfect Cheshire Cat moon. Spent another fab afternoon/eve at D-land w/
delerium3. And no, I haven't forgotten...we plan to spend a long full day w/you,
redefining_self at the Mouse House, but this wasn't the full day's worth which you deserve. It was also far more crowded than usual. Is there some weekday (or w'end day if need be) 'tween January 16, 2006 and January 29, 2006 or some day that's not a Monday or Wednesday 'tween Jan 29 and Feb 9 that'd work for you? Many of these daze are free and available. After that, school starts interfering on many weekdays, although w'ends will often still work.
It's amazing/amusing how much fun you (at least WE) can have without even entering the park! After a couple (or so) hours in Downtown Disney, chatting and drinking and giggling while avoiding the overflowing and splashing and spraying bar beer tap/keg issues (snort/hee!), we finally wandered over to:
CA Adventure:
Grizzly Rapids (2x - we discovered the trick to getting to stay on the ride two times running (back-to-back): ride w/several cute giggly screamy 15-year old girls and have THEM ask the young male ride operator if we can stay on for one more round)
Orange Buzz
Maritime Merry-Go-Round
Tower o' Terror
Autographs:
Stitch (sp)
Mushu (sp) (dragon from Mulan, apparently)
New Year's Resolution - catch up on Disney movies I've managed to miss:
Mulan
Beauty & Beast
L'il Mermaid
D-Land:
Mark Twain Steamboat (lovely lights at night)
Ran Into:
Allison & Ethan & (cuter than heck) baby Quinn!
Ping
shutt3rg33k: we're on for Carmel Highlands for Wed, 1/11/06. I'll give you a shout that morning (or Tu - or call my cell whenever) and we can head out in the afternoon/eve/whenever. You're welcome to spend the night. We'll enjoy a roaring fire, a bottle of wine, a damn fine time!

Re: Didnee...
Date: 2006-01-05 05:14 pm (UTC)If's definitely more fun to go w/someone, 'specially someone who'll have as much fun as you (or me, rather). It's fun to get caught up in the whole thing, to be a kid again running after characters, chatting with them, getting autographs, going on the rides and feeling overwhelmed, loving it thoroughly and getting into the spirit of it all. It's also a lovely place w/gorgeous plants, so sometimes I'll just go and sit for a spell. There's also a mess of fine music and musicians (great jazz combos over by New Orleans Square, a talented barbershop quartet roaming Main Street, the trad'l Americana music of The Miner '49ers in CA Adventures (on certain days) playing banjo, stand-up bass, steel guitar and the like, to name but a few). The Jungle Cruise ride comes complete w/plenty of good & bad puns. The Pirates of the Caribbean feels real (whilst being cheesy at the same time). If'n need be, you can have a drink or two beforehand to help get into the proper headspace. I'd recommend the Uve bar in Downtown Disney because you're outside, the music's good (piped, not live), the people-watching's excellent.
If'n you're so inclined, you should join us sometime...and see if'n you can enter into the spirit properly: become a kid again, revel in the wonder, the magic, the joy. See, I do this anyway on a daily basis, being thrilled by weather, the view (and smell) of the ocean as I drive up PCH, loving sunsets, stars, rainbows, cows munching grass on the side of the road, those long metallic strips fluttering over the grapevines up 101, fires blazing in fireplaces, smiles on kids' (and adults') faces, the taste of good food and wine/whiskey/whatever, the sight and sound of fab fireworks blasting overhead. Since this is my perspective anyway, hitting a place like D-land (clean and well-maintained) for a day/night works wonders for my mood.
Does this help your perspective any? Wanna come 'long sometime? (Hopefully you can get signed in by a friend or a friend of a friend, 'cause it ain't cheap. I splurged and got an annual pass which I've used plenty to make it worthwhile.)
