Cannot believe how much better I feel after finalizing some of the travel stuff. Didn't realize how heavy it'd been weighing on me 'til I took care of it and all of a sudden found the energy and drive to go deal w/a mess of other stuff that's also been bugging me. Baby steps works...what matters is movement (preferably forward).

EDIT: Okay, granted I'm gonna end up pretty beat and require solid recovery time after the outbound & inbound ventures, but the timing's not as bad as it could've been and this way I get to join Clan Sidhefire for Faerieworlds Festival in OR at the end o' July! So apparently there'll be a West Coast (SF Bay Area) reception for my step-sis and her soon-to-by hubby sometime this summer (prolly during the 2nd week of August). Thinking I'm gonna have to suck it in and pay the outrageous price for the Canada R/T ticket, even though it seems a shame to go for just one week. Not so bad though since my first car-payment-free month will just balance out w/the Canada ticket appearing on the credit card.

Just got notification that I've got 2 freebie round-trip (4 one-way) tix on SouthWest airlines to use by 2/14/2007. Two one-ways will cover the return from the NW trip in May, which leaves me w/a R/T to...where? I'm reading travel books and feeling an urge to GO. Ended up battling nasty-@ss traffic yet again today. (Got far better once I turned on loud music.) Been doing this too much recently. Yeah yeah, that which doesn't kill me makes me stronger...I should be feeling pretty damn strong right about now, but it doesn't particularly feel that way. I just feel annoyed at it nowadays more than usual. Last Friday's drive (in mid-day stupid traffic) to LB was ugly: the sky was completely devoid of colour, the cars were thick, the looming towers of the Mobil refinery in Torrance which usually please me as I imagine they're some sorta alien HQ instead horrified me. Ugliness abounds. My soul's parched, dehydrated, in need of...something.

Watched Blazing Saddles and Ghostbusters today. Good for laughs and chuckles and snorts. Baked butterscotch brownies. Had a pleasant afternoon/eve, but not a massively marvie one. Perhaps I'm spoiled for so often being so incredibly pleased w/my life and surroundings. At the same time, I do think they'll return. Prolly when I'm feeling better 'bout things & stuff. Which'll be soon(ish). A bit scattered. Pieces falling off. Must/will gather up the reins, pick up the pieces, see what I can build from the bits. (To the tune of the theme to The 6 Million Dollar Man.) No, not feeling bad or down, just sorta bleh, which'll pass. Travel-wise: still not sure where to go...or when. Right now: sleeeeeep beckons.

Leaving for LB on the way to BB in another hour or so. Looking fwd to relaxing in the mountains, perhaps searching for snow, certainly jacuzzi'ing, lazing by the fireplace, reading, eating & drinking. Best of all: I ain't driving! Back Monday aft/eve...gots to love the school teacher/children schedule (even if'n it's not mine but that of mine companions for the w'end). And then on Tu, school begins! (I imagine my French and perhaps even a sprinkling of Swedish will fill my mind as I try to start learning Spanish.)

Just got the plane tix from LAX to SEA-TAC for the aft/eve of Friday, April 28, 2006! Whoo-hoo! Hotel's already set (Prairie). Ditto car rental (Alamo). In another few weeks I'll make the return reservations for W, May 3, prolly to LAX from Portland, OR, but will wait and see what happens 'tween now and then to be sure of date/time and flying out of location.

Cowishness

So, this upcoming weekend's activities in Big Bear apparently include some mild snow-play (there's v. little snow up in the mountains) as well as putting together an anatomically correct 3D model of a cow w/a transparent hide so all the skeleton and internal organs can be seen. This is what I get for having friends who're teachers (science teachers at that). And they've offered to do all food shoping and menu preparation and DRIVING (halle-farking-lujeua). Hmm, thinking it'll be really quite nice.

Tomorrow I continue the MLE Shuttle Service (tm), this time skipping Ventura County and 23-101-118 rush hour traffic in favor of a run from the hills SW of the 60/605 to Hollywood w/the return scheduled during evening rush hour. After that (Wed), it's back to D-land for more relaxation, autographs, fun, rides, and stuff. I bee happy...and tired.

Been a while since I divided up the morning into 9-minute segments (e.g., used the snooze alarm), since I listened to the morning traffic report (horrid for a Saturday - or is it always this bad - overturned trucks closing all lanes of the 60, to name but one incident), since I headed Northward to L-poc for the w'end. Used to make it up yonder 'bout once a month or so. Schedules fill up, focus shifts, life happens. Glad to go. I think. This w'end has been a tradition for a long long time ('bout a decade), but I haven't been a part of it for quite a while ('bout half that time). Why? Seismic shifts in social circles...interests wandering off/about...don't rightly know. But my presence was championed and go I shall. 'Sonly for today and part of o'morrow. Contact's good. Hopefully I'm not putting my foot into it. Social dynamics alter when more bodies (and minds) appear. All like me (as far as I know), so hopefully it'll be for the good. Prolly SO, given the clientele - and given that I was asked to join in quite forcefully by a couple of folks (even if not by the hostess herself).

Okay, no worries, no regrets...'til later - and then only if'n based on something real and actual, not imagined or merely potential. Hell, I get to see a few of my fave folks...should be thrilled. Will feel more so when less exhausted. Will prolly get to share driving which'll help matters.

Another really good day in SD w/[livejournal.com profile] delerium3, even w/out visiting any of the three (3) Erics or Danno. Read more... )

P.S. aka EDIT: Tried less-than-sign backslash lj-cat greater-than-sign, but nothing happened.

P.P.S. aka EDIT2: Last night we also roamed the seafront, checking out the Maritime Museum (w/five (5 - count 'em) coo-el sea-going vessels to explore). Now must find a kind (and technologically proficient) soul to make a DigiPic into an LJ icon for me.

Ack!

Looks in mirror and sees a White Rabbit checking its watch. Rabbit hole here I come...but later rather than sooner. Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] lorriet, but I'm gonna blaze through your neck o' the woods w/out stopping this time (hope the interview w/Oscar/Big Bird/Insert Other Sesame Street Character Here Beach went swell). Leaving NOW. Should hit Monterey/Carmel just in time for din-din.

One part 'bout travelling I really enjoy is the planning, the figuring out how it's all going to work, the putting the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle together (research, transportation, lodging, entertainment, feeding, packing). Pieces are falling into place both for my next trip (this Th - next Wed/Th in NoCal) and for the late April visit to WA. Planning Details )
