One part 'bout travelling I really enjoy is the planning, the figuring out how it's all going to work, the putting the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle together (research, transportation, lodging, entertainment, feeding, packing). Pieces are falling into place both for my next trip (this Th - next Wed/Th in NoCal) and for the late April visit to WA.

Tentative Plans:

F, 04/28/06: ONT – SEA
#2638/2299 4:35pm-8:25pm (change in SJC)

M, 05/01/06 or Tu, 05/02/06 or W, 05/03/06: SEA – ONT
#490/2891 10:10am - 1:35pm (change in SMF/Sacto) (lv hotel approx 6am) OR
#2725/1790 11:35am – 3:50pm (change in OAK) (lv hotel approx 7:15am)

Dunno how nasty morning rush hour traffic's likely to be to SEA, so my estimated a.m. departure times may change.

As noted previously and now brought up again after hearing of a friend's recent (last w'end) experiences up in the San Gabes (or thereabouts), I NEED to get out camping. Soon. Thinking I'll wait for the current set of storms to pass though.

Mid-morningish.. you should be okay for traffic to SeaTac.. from the hotel; you're MAYBE two hours from SeaTac.. if you drive like I do... if you drive like [livejournal.com profile] ulesegisa it's more like an hour & 1/2... & if you guys don't fly out until Tuesday.. we could make a trip up to Mt Rainier on Monday.. maybe go hiking up Copper Creek & picking up fossils...

part the 2nd: and after sunday.. there shouldn't be crowds of people at the house.. so if you guys wanted to give up the hotel room & crash out here.. we should have space...

Coo-el - thx! The fossil hike & Mt Rainier sounds delightful. The ETD 'pends on how flexie the profs are in our classes. If'n they can handle a missed class, then staying an extra day or two's cool. If'n they say "miss a class and your grade automatically lowers one full grade," well, then I'm not so sure. Actually, come to think of it, I don't care about the grade one bit...and I can't believe I'm saying this! We shall see...but appreciate the flexibility re: staying on tremendously.

Spanish 1. If'n I'm going to keep living in SoCal, it makes sense to know it. It's also one of the items that'll help me clear my teaching cred'l. (I've got a prelim one that's good for five (5) years from 5/05. It's fine for being hired & teaching, but I'd like to take care of the req's before they add new ones.)

What'll you be taking this semester? (I think you've said, but my mind's a sieve. At times I'm a Bear of Very Little Brain.)

Evergreen goes by the quarter schedule.. & this quarter I'm taking "Ecoheroes-Hope for the earth" and Intermediate Russian II... then I'm going to take the summer off school.. in the fall I'll start back, and I'm hoping to be able to focus on art classes...

The Eco-Heroes class looks really interesting. I'm particularly intrigued by the requirement that "Students will be expected to participate in projects related to sustainability, either on the campus or community level." Friends of my folks live off the grid up in/near Willits, CA - and have done so for years now - it can be done. Intermed Russian II - gah! Good for you.

The projects is one of the things Evergreen is particularily known for.. they try to have their students do things to put the learned knowledge into practical application (preferably in ways that are interactive with the community)..
fun fun fun!

any room for a visit, with either me coming to where you are or you coming here? going to the house in Carmel, btw, would not hurt my feelings one little bit. ;)

Hmm, I have dinner plans already for this Th night, but was thinking of snagging it as well on my way back down, perhaps for the night of Wed, 1/11, which'd be even better as we could arrive mid-afternoon and have more time w/less post-drive exhaustion. Let me ponder on this (and check availability w/my step-mom) and I'll letcha know!
