A friend of a friend noted that "the Grand Canyon was carved by individual raindrops. That's what our votes are. Individual raindrops. Alone they can't do much, but if those raindrops don't fall, we can't change the landscape."

Plus there's Free Ice Cream for all courtesy of Ben & Jerry's!

I'm off in a couple of hours to drop my completed ballot into the drop-off box at my local library then wait w/bated breath for results.

Actually, I think the Grand Canyon, like the Columbbia Gorge, was more likely caused by a sudden cataclysm of water that had been previously held back by an ice dam in a recent Ice Age.

But still, I think it's about time for the dam to break anyway, and a flood to change the landscape.

We need a rout.

Technically, yes, the passage of the water through the river did the carving, not actual rain in the desert, but that river still fell from the sky as raindrops, albeit farther upstream...

Well, if by "rain," you mean "snow," sure.

I think the metaphor of a dam breaking and accumulated frustration ripping through a country and recarving it actually seems prety cool.

And I rather hope it happens that way. The fact that turnout numbers are SO high makes it seem that way. People actually are polarized, people are finding that this time, they DO give a damn.

Rout seconded.
