The Gallery of Regrettable Foods by James Lileks

"Sure, they're great, once you've loaded them with straight dope. But Dad, they're so one-dimensional Who wants a burger with only one side? Try this new treat: Two-faced hamburgers. But there's a dark side in the background. Mom is hoarding the Cokes again, hissing at her daughter: Stay back! Stay back from Mommy's mixer!"

From Life of Pi by Yann Martel

There are three hills within Munnar. They don't bear comparison with the talls hills --- mountains, you might call them --- that surround the town, but I noticed the first morning, as we were having breakfast that they did stand out in one way: on each stood a Godhouse. The hill on the right, across the river from the hotel, had a Hindu temple high on its side; the hill in the middle, further away, held up a mosque, while the hill on the left was crowned with a Christian church.

Hi back! Yeah, this meme makes it way around every few months and it's always amusing seeing what's closest at hand when it does. ;-)

Book: An Exchange of Hostages by Susan R. Mathews

Joslire must be getting nervous, and it wasnt fair of him to make Joslire wait when none of it was Joslire's fault. Andrej set his mind to silence, stubbornly determind not to think of the morning's work untill he was well into it.
Successfully distracted by the simple pleasures of the fast meal table, Andrej found himself sitting in the Student Interogator's chair once more without a clear idea of how he had gotten there.
