I keep making slightly smaller batches of stuffing. Next year I'm only making HALF what the recipe I use calls for, and'll still have leftovers! I tend to forget that this recipe, from my step-dad, is for the large Tday & Bday gathering he and friends from college have held since the mid-1970s. Even with six (6) folks at Thanksgiving dinner o'morrow, we'll have plenty (plus leftovers).

Happy to have done all the chopping, sauteeing, mixing, and baking today. Tomorrow's just for roasting the turkey, making gravy, supervising the making of mashed potatos, de-canning cranberry sauce, reheating stuffing, and heating up rolls.

One friend's in charge of veg (not green beans, as she doesn't care for 'em, and not brussell sprouts as the BF doesn't like 'em). I said a salad would work. (If'n I decide at the last minute we NEED green veg, I'll nuke a packet or two of frozen peas.) Another friend's on pie duty. Another's bringing appetizers (meat & cheese & bread).

Today's gotten lovely out after a grey AM. The sun's shining. I've had xmas music blasting since 10am. I'm happy and smiling and thankful for so many good people in my life, as well as for the time and space to cook and have folks over and live a pretty darned good life.

Wow. I do so lurv this time o' year. Halloween 'n' pumpkins 'n' trick-or-treaters 'n' costumes. Then fambily 'n' food 'n' reconnecting over Thanksgiving. Now getting ready for x-mas w/the scent of fresh fir, cinnamon, eggnog 'n' brandy, more marvelous food, the sounds of x-mas music (recorded and soon, LIVE), seeing friends, lotsa smiles, breaking bread, burning candles, laying in front of fires watching the flames dance (I don't have a fireplace and'd love to do this somewhere), drawing together as the days shorten, singing "Here Comes the Sun" to beckon back the longer days, remembering the past, celebrating the present, creating traditions, being together, looking forward to the new year, andandand So very happy-making!

After slogging away at mind-mushingly Daunting But Doable chores this afternoon 'n' evening, I rewarded myself by walking over to the corner lot, choosing my tree, and carrying it back home to the Hive. This pleases me oh-so-much! Accompanied by holiday music (not just x-mas), I then decorated the Hive.

I want to have folks over for eggnog 'n' cookies 'n' putting on the silly elf-hat 'n' mebbe watching A Christmas Story and/or any other films you traditionally watch this month. Do tell if'n you're interested and we'll work on making it happen.
