What's a good stereo store (or other store) in/near Seattle for good quality RCA cables and/or what does one look for in a good RCA cable (connecting DVD player to amp)? Thx for tips/hints/suggestions.

I wholeheartedly recommend Blue Jeans Cable for all your cabling needs. They have a wide selection of quality cables in custom lengths for VERY LOW PRICES. Technically, they are in Seattle, though they mainly do online sales. Here's their stereo audio page:

If You *want* to spend 100 dollars on Gold plated Monster Cables of doom... I would be glad to send you a pair.

(fuck, where is that gold spraypaint).

If you leave your cables, out in the wind, and salt, and grime, and all of your fancy equipment is covered in rust, then go ahead and buy gold plated. These are the only conditions where you will need them, (or if you are playing your stereo *inside* a Radio transmitter).

At "line level" (which you are at, from a DVD player to an Amp), you can run many many many hundreds of feet, without noise or interference, with the very cheapest of cables.

However, just make sure that your DVD player, your TV Set, and your Amp are all plugged into the same AC outlet source, (or better yet, mondo power strip), so that the grounds are all bonded together.

This gets rid of the 60 cycle "hummmmmmmmmmm" that comes into play, if you don't.

Call or email directly if you need to. Just avoid anything from Radio shack.

3,500 live radio remote broadcasts. Every Single outage or on-air failure was due to a Radio Shack purchased product. Every single one. (all 8, out of nearly 4,000. Most outages were seconds in length however, I was that damn good).
