We've begun wood-chipping paths in the 2010 garden. As of today, the former squash & corn patch has been weeded & seeded w/a cover crop mixture. It'll lay fallow (we won't be planting it) this year, although we'll be weed-wacking it to keep it under control and prevent it from blossoming & seeding (or whatever it'd do if'n left alone). Come late August-ish, we'll turn it all under and start the more usual rotation of Fall/Winter cover crops so it's ready for planting come Spring 2011 (if'n CopperMoon's still up here rather than shifted closer to Portland, OR by then).
It felt so good to get out and get dirty today - and to have measureable/visual progress in the garden. O'morrow's likely gonna be pouring down rain, so that's for indoor garden stuff such as weeding & beaning the greenhouse and getting lettuce (and other greens) going there. Yay for more fresh salad greens soon(ish)! This'l get replaced come mid-May when the tomatoes'll go into the greenhouse. We also managed to get the seedling shelves and the grow-lights up for starting same &c. in another couple of weeks.
wildwoosi's now making Moroccan Lamb Stew so the whole house is redolent w/numbly savory spiciness. Garlic bread & kale from the garden should round out dinner nicely.
Feeling well on the road to recovery.
