I like Norman Fisher - he was a guest on the "Buddhist Geeks" podcast some time ago talking about the evolution of religion. Also, Dogen was the founder of the Soto Zen (when I am hanging out at a temple or monastery it is usually Soto). The Arcata Zen Group is Soto. Anywho, Dogen was a great writer and my favorite of his treatises is called "Instructions to the cook."
