What a nice weekend w/the Amazing [livejournal.com profile] lightfoote. Yesterday's blazing heat (90s!) balances quite nicely w/today's cool rain. Other balancing acts've included Saturday's mostly at-home (North/CopperMoon) media reorganization project w/Friday's local tourism adventures. (Figuring [livejournal.com profile] wildwoosi's not the only tourist these days, although her European travels([livejournal.com profile] intothewildwood) net much better pictures. Clickie here for a Seattle pic from Fri.)

Friday's local tourism adventures began by emptying the van and then heading to Kirkland to procure a real SCORE from Craig's List. The three (3) IKEA Billy bookcases and one (1) Benno CD/DVD tower would retail new for $320, but we got 'em all for just $90. Amusingly enough, these items came originally from IKEA in Holland. The owners didn't wanna haul 'em back overseas again so we lucked out!

After that we enjoyed checking out the wonderful Jim Henson's Fantastic World Exhibit @ EMP/SciFi Museum and touring the Sci/Fi Museum itself before walking and busing over to wander around Pike Place Market and stock up on spices at World Spice. Afterwards we bussed back to hit the oh-so-silly-yet-fun tourist attraction of Seattle Duck Tour where we rode a WWII amphibious landing vehicle along the waterfront, around town, and then IN Lake Union - annoying locals by quacking madly at 'em nearly the whole time. Topping off the whole day, we visisted Seattle's Madison Park neighborhood where we dined on marvelous Mexican/SW cuisine @ Cactus, walked a block away to sit 'n' digest on a bench at the beach and watch folks swim while the sky and water changed colors at sunset, then swinging on great huge adult-size swings and making plans to ride the zipline next time (when it's not overrun by teenagers). Oh, and spontaneously running into the Vorpal Bunnies and exchanging hugs provided good frosting on an already sweet day!

Saturday began slowly, ramping up to shifting books and DVDs and bookcases and baskets and and and, then heading out for dinner at Celtic Bayou (yes, it's an Irish Pub & Cajun Cafe w/lots of good domestic & int'l beers all rolled together) w/[livejournal.com profile] delerium3, [livejournal.com profile] skarlett, [livejournal.com profile] meme_morgan, [livejournal.com profile] stardragan, [livejournal.com profile] forgodestiny, and [livejournal.com profile] colleenbrenna. Afterwards, ALF & I headed back to CuMoon on back roads, stopping at various spots along the Snoqualmie River to check out water conditions, boat put-in/take-out spots, and the like.

We got to chat (yay IM & Skype) w/[livejournal.com profile] wildwoosi today. She's still in England for another day or two before heading across the water to France, where she'll be for Bastille Day. Missing our 4th o' July fireworks won't matter so much since she'll get to experience plenty in Paris on 14 July!
