They were in the clouds earlier this afternoon. Now they're battling in the gloom. When I left the Hive for walkies several hours ago, I knew how much I needed a spell outside and moving. It felt as if something were brewing. Well, thank goodness I timed everything as I did, b'c it's now coming down like mad. Thunder's rumbling off in the distance, the wind gusts blow and blow harder - shifting direction randomly and frequently, huge cookie-dough-sized waterdrops're splashing all about. It's just what I want.

When I got back from the neighborhood ramble - I keep expanding my range and rarely take the same route twice - I took a camp chair down to the back lawn and sat out there for a spell. When the wind starting whipping around, blowing dust and pollen and seeds and leaves everywhere, when it began tearing chunks o' small branches and leaves off the huge overgrown maple tree next door, that's when I came inside, turned off the fan, closed the windows letting in the drops and opened the ones protected under the eaves of the front deck to let in the noise of the storm - another HUGE long rumble just erupted...and another crack and rumble. Damn I'd forgotten just how much I love a good thunderstorm!

Getting to know the guys working on fixing up the house a few doors North of the Hive. It's good living somewhere where people who can work on houses, fixing 'em up and making 'em all nice, and make a living at it.

EDIT: 5:57pm - And now, it's over and it's calm out, no more wind blowing dust, no more rain...ah, but still intermittent peals of thunder off in the not-so-very-far-off distance.

Anyway, enough rambling...it's cooled down a lot just since I returned from my Stair Work-Out up at Mt Tabort Park. (I'll post pics of the reservoir stairs later on.)

Heh. I'd considered turning on the sprinkler in the backyard to urge the storm on, but I didn't even have to. Here 'tis. Oooh, sirens. Hope it's not lightening doing its thing.

It's torrential out now. I'm still toying w/the idea of putting on my rain-gear and walking down the street for dinner. Or mebbe I'll just stay put, make soup, and continue reading R Ludlum and comforting the kittenheads who aren't nearly as experienced as I with thunderstorms.

Second this! One of the things that I miss about living in Florida (OK, one of the VERY FEW things I miss) is the terrific thunderstorms that blow through. Nothing like really flat terrain to encourage massive thunderstorms.

I spent several summers partially on the East Coast. New England has delightful (and fairly frequent around this time of day) t-storms which I, too, miss. Wish you could've been here for't. Mebbe you'll get this one next. *blows in your general direction*

The storm drove down the temps from the low-80s earlier this afternoon to low 60s now. It's gone now (leaving the coolness behind), hopefully Northward to cool you folks as well. :-)

Weird weather dancing, yes?
Here in Tacoma, we haven't had rain but it's been brooding, windy and electric snarly for many hours now....

An' our kittehs are spooked.
An' it's only the beginning of June.
(fastened down the tomatoes, peas, beans, and peppers...the wind is crazy!)

Hugs to you all!

Our weather shifted quickly here too, hot and sunny to cloudy and windy, though sadly, no thunderstorms or downpours. I have summer storm envy. ;o)
