I was thinking about you when I was watching the news. Yeep. And they are supposed to run out of de-icer tomorrow sometime. I hope you are able to find a way home...somehow.
Ugh. I know that's tough when you expected to be home.
My biggest issue is that I don't have everything for everyone's stockings, which are a big deal at our house (there are 8 of them hanging, waiting to be filled). I have everything for the 5 year old's, but if he sees everyone else's empty, it will make him sad. I have GOT to get to the candy store by Ben Franklin (my friend owns it and it is amazing, BTW), to Fred Meyer, and hopefully to World Market in Woodinville before Wednesday evening.
Oh, and Safeway for everything for Christmas dinner...providing everyone can make it over then. My in-laws come from Port Townsend, friends from Bothell, Kenmore and Gig Harbor.
Jen had some the last time I was in there. I don't know what her stock situation is now...they also had some at Fred Meyer, though not a lot, on end cap in the health food section near the bakery.
ThankYouThankYouThankYou for the tip. Now I remember that I did indeed find it at my Freddies in Portland last year (near the health/org food section). Will give your friend's store a chance first though, just in case.
Can you take the train back home and get picked up in PDX? With the planes grounded, you might be able to get the flight refunded or get a standby notice for another time, and the train takes longer but it's not so bad... pretty views.
Yeah, I took the train up for T-giving (and a fair amount recently up and back). 'Tis quite lovely. Checked trains yesterday though and Amtrak had suspended service. Mebbe today...
Also depends on whether I can get to SEA-TAC/Amtrak from CopperMoon...
Yeah, I live just north of downtown (north cap of the U district) so it's easier for me to hit the main train station down there. Not so bad when the busses are running. Go all the way to the end of the tunnel and then up the stairs, across the street, and north one block. :)
Yeah, one of my oldest and Dearest Friends (1annie1) has spent a lot of time in Alaska. She's been to the start and/or finish of the [there's sound at this link, FYI] Iditarod (http://www.iditarod.com/) and gone dog-sledding and it sounded truly AWESOME.
Once upon a time, I had a friend who lived up there and trained her dogs for sledding with the goal of running that race. I had hoped many years ago to go up and learn with her for a year or two, and to join the race myself. It will never happen; she hasn't spoken to me in years over a silly disagreement... but I had wanted to race once.
Whoa! The Scripps student quoted in that article is a good friend of mine! I hope she's not stranded there for too much longer... And I hope your travel plans work out okay, too.
Heh, very good point. And if worst comes to worst, delerium3 will be able to go feed/water/scoop my cats today - they're my biggest concern right now. (I left 'em w/what they needed since I've been gone for the past few days but'd planned on being there this evening.)

Can it stop snowing now, please?
