On Hoops & Success
Apr. 25th, 2005 07:11 pmThey want me to succeed, to become a teacher, to get my multiple subject (read elementary school) teaching credential, to pass the one last class (Student Teaching). Thus, although I'm not as far along as some in the class (who've 98% done w/their portfolios), now that I've seen where some of the rest of the class is - and reviewed the quality of their work/portfolio so far - I'm not feeling so bad anymore 'bout where mine's at now. And since it's mostly an exercise in hoop-jumping, I don't feel I need to do much more than jump through the hoop successfully. There's no need to do it particularly flashily...no backflips needed. For one thing, I don't get extra points for extra work. Sorta like the CSET and the Bar exams: it's Pass / Fail. You only learn your actual score if'n you Fail. Otherwise you just know you did well 'nuff. (Luckily I never learned my scores.)
Meanwhile, there's SO much to do out there. It's hard to pick and choose. Would help if'n I had a plan or a goal towards which I was working. Well, I'm gonna set some...so there! For now: finish the damn-blasted thing (portfolio). Mebbe better focus on that and l'il else for now. Later on this summer: clean out the garage, then once I have a place to keep it, get the l'il car fixed up nicely (need to find a place/person to fix leak/replace windshield, then detail the car nicely (paint and new interior floor and possibly dash). Also wanna learn Spanish.
