Took a slight detour home from Yelm which extended the 2-hour tour to 8-hours+. *yawn* Damn it's lovely here in the PacNW. Had drafted wonderful tales in my head of today's drive w/great music and several fab hikes for you folks, but'm just too danged tired now. So, if'n a picture's worth 1K words, I'll tell you a lot behind the clickie place. Hopefully so...not sure though 'cause I've never tried this thingie (Flickr) before and don't really know how it works. Oh, for those of you who care, I followed this route today:

5 - S to Chehalis (where I finally succumbed to the Rainbow Falls State Park sign I've been eying for ages)
6 - W to Raymond
101 - S to Seaview
103 - N to Long Beach then S to Ilwaco
100 - Loop through/around Cape Disappointment (oh-so-not-aptly named for my purposes)
101 - S to Seaside (through Astoria)
26 - E back to Portland

EDIT: And because one of the perfectly timed songs today (cued up spontaneously to match fab views) was indeed The Rainbow Connection...

Oh sure, you've got stunning natural beauty...but HEY! We've got the worst air quality in the United States! We're Number One!

The Rainbow Connection U-Tube is most excellent...I was once giving blood and someone in the drainage chair next to me asked if anyone knew the words to the "Rainbow song that that Frog sings." I did, of course (hello!) and managed to get the entire Red Cross group singing. It was Special.

Nah, this detour was yak-free. Full o' birdies though. I kept seeing Elk signs but no signs of Elk.
