We Oregonians Apparently Don't Want Nobody/Nothing to Pollute or Dilute or Sap Our Precious Bodily Fluids. Methinks it's high time to watch Dr Strangelove again.

My current spot of happiness revolves 'round the fact that my hot tub's currently being cleaned and refilled and'll be ready to use later tonight. Now all the windows in the house open. Need to get: test strips for hot tub chemicals & window screens. I've borrowed the LL's lawn mower and gotten the rundown on what's planted where (so now know where to stick in some summer bulbs w/out disturbing what's already there). Now to play the game of waiting for the lawns to dry out s'more before mowing 'em yet not waiting so long that it rains again. It's a lovely sunny day but there're big grey 'n' white fluffy clouds out there promising more wetness before long. But how long...

Such is my life. It does not suck (in a bad way) to be me. The friend who visited from Berkeley mid-day yesterday 'til this morn'll be back up every month or so through December, so there'll be more outdoors exploration going on w/him, which'll be fun. Way back when on one of our PacNW trips in the late '80s/early '90s, the hub 'n' I tried to visit the lava tubes up by Mt St Helens, but there was too much snow ('twas Springtime). Methinks I'll get there sometime in the next six (6) months, which'll be swell.

As noted previously, I rarely lose things for good, although I do misplace things at times. Apparently these "things" include plans made but not completed, trips planned but not taken, projects considered - perhaps even started - but not finished. If they're still valid, if'n they still serve purposes...if'n completing/doing some of these things'll (help) satisfy needs that remain, then even after time elapses (or perhaps more so precisely b'c it's been a while) it'll be good/nice/positive to do 'em/get 'em done.

Okay, not sure how to express whassup. Been feeling a lot more directly involved w/my life and the folks 'round me and all that goes on. Don't know if what's diff is w/in me or around me or both or how it's all interacting. But I do quite like it. Feels like perhaps: fewer filters, fewer layers, less nonsense, less B.S., less waiting and more doing...

Just mowed the front lawn for the first time. I LOVE the smell of fresh cut grass! Haven't mowed a lawn in AGES. It's been... years...quite likely decades. Similar to vacuuming, but more gratifying. In fact, time mowing will exceed time vacuuming as I've only my bedroom to vacuum and there's both the front & back lawns that'll need frequent mowings 'n' trimmings 'n' edging. Need to figure out what tools I'll need and where to get 'em and all that jazz. Easing into this whole homemaking thing... Still have the back lawn to mow, but it's wetter so I'll let it dry out s'more before tackling that job.

Meanwhile, time travel's such fun. Even though [livejournal.com profile] ebony_sphynx has returned from a month away in Europe, my postcards from her keep arriving so I get to enjoy her glorious adventures vicariously...even as she recovers/relapses from being sick whilst away.

I love your journal. (It just took me three tries to type that noun properly...duuuuh)

Glad you like your cards. I kept wanting to send more cards towards the end, but realized they might arrive until weeks after my return, so I curbed myself with only one last card to my mom from Paris. So, your last one should be from the Loire, I think, or before, possibly.

Enjoy the yard work...I love gardening, but never did find the thrill in mowing...I always arranged to trade chores with my sister so I could avoid it...until my mom realized that if she did it, that was time alone...and that was just what she wanted.

Love you much and wish we were hot tubbing watching the shooting stars again...I seem to accrue good hot tub memories, glad you are in one.

Be well and enjoy the happy.
