Is there any reason to suspect that my car might not pass it's smog test if'n I haven't driven it much recently? Should I take it out for a long spin (it hasn't been driven in several weeks and only gets on now 'n' again) before getting it tested or just not worry 'bout it? Any thoughts/tips/hints/suggestions appreciated!

if your catalytic converter works properly, you shouldn't need to do more than drive it for, oh, a half hour before you take it in (the catalyst works best when warm...). Anything else would be due to the timing, etc. slipping, but I hardly imagine a car of yours' vintage would do that in this amount of time.

Thx. I'll take it out on the road for 1/2 hour or so before taking it in for smogging.

Get the engine good and hot before you show up at the testing station. I don't know that a higher octane fuel would help, but it couldn't hurt, right?

It shouldn't matter, though, if it's been idle for a few weeks.

Thx for tip...and it already takes the highest octane I can find, which ain't that high here in SoCal.

By law the test stations must test the car at it's normal operating temperature which means they'll warm it up if it happens not to be already.

You should be in good shape, me thinks.

Thx for advice - 'preciated. I'll prolly take it for a spin for 1/2 hour or so beforehand 'cause I'm should anyway, so it'll be all warmed up for the test.
