Good Technical Support Makes Me Happy!
Oct. 20th, 2006 04:06 pmIt feels so good and right to be able to sit at my 'puter and type away w/out having to borrow another's. 'Twas a simple matter of calling the cable company (actually the last cable co which seems to have transitioned fairly well to the new one) and talking to the tech support guy after not too horribly long a time wending my way through the automated (for my convenience - *grimace*) telephone system. He had me unplug something, tell him which lights were solid, off, and flashing, ran some tests on his end, then plug the thingie back in...and voila - it's working! Plus he advised me what it might be if'n this happens again and how to deal w/it. How very pleasant, nice, and surprising.
Note to self for next time (which might be once a month): Unplug the power (black cord) from the back of the router, wait a minute or two, then plug it back in. If'n it's more often than 1x/month - or this doesn't work - call the router co (Linksys) and ask if'n there's a FIRMWARE UPDATE I should have.
