Why oh WHY do I start these HUGE projects when I have such limited time? Rhetorical qx here, which won't change nuttin', I imagine. "Imagine" springs to mind Imogene Coco (sp), Cocoa Puffs, Reefer Madness references, but also Imagine - John Lennon and all that. How is it I'm able to function and survive and thrive (or mebbe I haven't been?!) w/all this chaos about? Input input input galore! Chaos in this case refers to piles of carp, some of which haven't been touched or disturbed (other than adding to) in eons (hence the arch ref). Tempted to toss it all, but wanna wade through in case there're vital bits mixed in with merely interesting bits. So don't have time to deal w/this now...yet as I move even a few pieces to the recycle bag and/or trashcan and/or To Be Filed (Really! Soon!) pile, I do feel pressure releasing, shoulder-weight diminishing. Progress. Baby steps.

One example: 1200 ruled index cards (3"x5"), 300 each of blue, grape, lime & cherry...since when do colors require fruit names?. I have 'em. I cannot imagine using 'em. I don't want 'em. I cannot toss 'em. Hmm, some school'd prolly like 'em. But which? And when? Distribution of resources = vital: getting what needs to be gotten to the right people in the right place at the right time and in the right manner (f'rinstance, so perishables don't) = amazing work (good quartermasters kick butt). This here (mi casa) is a...not sure where to go w/this: black hole ('cept it's mainly visible, 'less hidden 'neath nice attractive fabric throws), a bottleneck - yeah, this works. 'Cept the stuff ain't flowing anywhere in 'ticular...which is part of the problem. I like to be ready for whatever...yet not if the quantity of carp needed to plow through prevents/hinders my readiness. Must make decisions: cull: prioritize: junk, toss, scrap, LET GO. Damn hard to do... But now, must get back at it!

EDIT: Okay, HERE's something to do w/most of my excess index cards: 1000 Blank White Cards, thx be to [livejournal.com profile] anansi133: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/4550

One resource for getting rid of stuff that you don't want that maybe would be valuable to someone else: www.freecycle.org

There should be a few local to you. :)
