So, I managed to let the battery run totally dry on my iPod a few months back. Apparently if'n you let it go that long it can forget some really basic stuff. Long story short, it broke - or lost its mind and went insane and wouldn't play well w/my 'puter. Sadness.
What I had NOT realized was that my warranty was still valid. So when I finally dragged my sorry @ss into the Apple Store this afternoon - which played nada but Beatles music, which is just fine 'n' dandy b'c I like 'em lots, but ain't gonna affect me since I've NEVER purchased music on-line to download yet and I already have a great selection of Beatles music (US & UK album versions & rarities &c. - they're called CDs, chilluns ;-) Anyway, turns out my iPod still had 60 days left on its warranty, so they just took the olde one (after I showed 'em that it wasn't gonna get better - and it looked freaking pristine!) and gave me a new one...with a 90-day warranty. I win!
Now, though, I'm busy trying to make the 'puter & iPod synch. It seems as if every freakin' time that I "update" iTunes it forgets my Preference that it look for - and save - all my burnt stuff (aka ALL my music) on the Very Big external hard drive rather than the Considerably Smaller laptop hard drive. Anyway, I think now it's finally figured things out and is the middle of synching stuff up. With luck I'll have tons of easily portable good music to take w/me on next week's Toad Rip to the Bay Area for Thxgiving (2 full Thanksgivings, much visiting of Dear Friends & fambily, Dickens, &c.)
Whee!
