but that rarely stops me. Feeling a bit like I should have something to say here, not necessary anything particularly profound, but at least minorly meaningful. Just finished a book yesterday (The Difference Engine by Wm Gibson & Bruce Stirling) and have various thoughts from it, but nothing articulated. Feeling...quiet...calm before storm? Hope not, actually. Once again I must remember that I need to take recovery time and that it can take different modes: quietude, just dealing w/life stuff that stacks up whilst I'm gone - and this is sufficient, I needn't strive for too much more right away.

Today's plans are fairly simple: grocery shopping, baking for Playa folks b-days, assembling Care Packages (containing baked goods, apples, and prolly some glowies), mailing 'em off, and making dinner and having a pleasant eve/night.

This was the runniest cake batter I've ever dealt with, prolly b'c there's more liquid than flour...hoping it works. Note to cookbook writers: not so helpful to list under ingredients: 2 eggs lightly beaten w/a fork then under instructions specify adding eggs one at a time. Luckily I've learned to read the entire recipe BEFORE beginning, not that anything horrid'd prolly happen, but still. Anyway, the cupcakes are in the oven so we'll see if'n this works out once the device goes bing.

EDIT: It's sure starting to smell good...mmmmmm, choco cake. And the fixin's for homemade ice cream currently reside in the freezer & fridge...

EDIT2: Success! Yum, even if'n they could've stood an extra negative couple of minutes in the oven. Sifted confectioner's suger over 'em for prettiness 'cause I think frosting'd just melt on the way to the playa. Will let 'em cool off some more then head out to the post office.

Here's one: INSPIRATION. Dunno whether it arrives from without or within, but it struck this afternoon. I'm now roasting a chicken stuffed w/rosemary I just snipped from the pot and an entire lemon that I've forked, smeared all over w/olive oil and ground pepper and some fresh rubbed rosemary. Also trying the pasta w/carmelized onion dish my dad made in Nova Scotia. Cannot quite remember what to do, so it might not be just the same, but with luck it'll be yumbly anyway. Also on menu: organic string beans from the farmer's mkt (just gonna steam 'em, nothing more) and a tossed salad. Dessert = leftover sour-cream choco cupcakes.
