Today's Baking Math Problem
Oct. 19th, 2005 10:15 amJust dawned on me that I can't transport a live (warm) cake to camping to assemble and frost there, so I've gotta bake it TODAY, let it cool o-nite, then assemble and frost it o'morrow. Luckily I've got a most wonderous Tupperware cake transporter so it'll make it out there in one piece, unblemished and ready to eat. Hmm, the checkerboard cake calls for 3 - 9" layers but most of my cake batter recipes make 2 - 8" cakes...guess I'll make one entire recipe of each and use any excess for cupcakes. Thinking of sour-cream choco and orange, as it's an October b-day and this'll look nicely seasonal.
I'm gonna go shower now. If'n any math-types feel particularly sweet, wouldja let me know the diff in area/volume (same H for each) 'tween 2 - 8" diameter cake layers and 1.5 - 9" diameter cake layers. If'n logistics permit, I'll reward you w/cupcakes.
