I'm home again home again (jiggedy jig). Damn what a wonderful time away I had. A week (7 days) felt like many many weeks, well over a month...'twas quite lovely and very nice. Sad, too, as it included seeing a Dear Friend for the last time in Dawg knows how long. Will await an invite before visiting again. Feeling like it ain't gonna be a while 'til it comes. (Then I must find/make time to travel & visit, which I'll gladly do.) Fused more fambily connections. Love it that I can now trade books and authors w/my 12-year olde niece. Hope to take the nieces (12 & 15) and step-sis and her hubby to Carmel for a w'end in April (start of Spring Break for me and the girlz). We'll hit the Monterey Bay Aquarium amongst other things.

The evenings on this trip began and ended w/mighty pleasant evenings w/good fires in Carmel, talking, reading, relaxing, enjoying the place, the time, life, the universe & everything. In between, I wandered the Castro w/another couple of Dear Friends (who, by the way, enjoyed the New Years' Day labyrinth walk led by [livejournal.com profile] twistedcat thoroughly), hit a couple of fab restaurants (Straits in the Richmond District and Absinthe Brasserie in the Theatre District), shopped in and around Union Square (Snuggles would've been proud), enjoyed the musical Lestat (good/ok, but not great), looking fine in our top hats & tails.

Visited another friend who took me to the Albany WaterFront Park, a quite swank name for a doggy-walk park on the bulb, out on the bay on a swathe of land that 'twas formerly a junkyard and homeless mecca, now filled w/marvelously twisted found-material sculptures and pretty amazing paintings. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfgate/detail?blogid=3&entry_id=298

He also invited me along to a meditation potluck w/an interesting group of folks. Twenty (20) minutes of meditation's pretty extreme to one who's just getting started w/this sorta thing (e.g., me - he's been doing this for a couple of decades), but I pulled it off nicely (even though my feet were filled w/pins & needles from sitting cross-legged for so long). Amusing listening to the discussions over food afterwards. Seemed so much like folks were talking on different wavelengths, not quite able to articulate what they felt/though/meant and really not doing well communicating their ideas/feelings. Increased awareness seems called for, both interally and w/others.

Got to attend a high school JV girls soccer game. Wow. Fascinating hearing the concerns, trials & tribulations of high school gals today. This is the world of/for some people. (And really, at times I feel like I'm back in/at that point myself...only w/a hell of a lot more self-confidence than I ever had back then.)

Drove home from Carmel via Hwy 1 through Big Sur today. Absolutely gorgeous. Cows make me happy. Saw hundreds of 'em. Ditto Sea Heffalumps (aka Elephant Seals). Thought I'd be dead beat at the end, but I felt a huge surge of energy when the sun set over Malibu. Made it home 'round 5pm. Did some crafts: picked and sorted and guided stringing of beads for hair thingie. ([livejournal.com profile] delerium3 = my craft guru - thx always to her.) Watched Fast Times at Ridgemont High followed by Waiting For Guffman. Much laughter (and giggling).

Happy to have been away. Happy now to be home. Life's pretty damned sweet to enjoy both being away and coming back home again.

EDIT: Woke up well rested this morning, despite a long (many hours it seemed) involved dream of zombies (recurring dream theme of late)...and what more I cannot quite remember. Should've jotted it down in my journal right away. When I awoke I remembered tons of details. Not scary, quite matter-of-fact, but really odd. Not sure whassup w/this stuff. Control issues, certainly. And more. Much much more.
