What exactly is the virtue of constancy?

Well, in discussions I've had recently, it's been established that constancy makes people feel safe because they know what to expect, know how their behavior will be reacted to. They know how to maneuver within a given situation or with a given individual. It gives people a sense of safety and/or control to have constancy in their environment.

Whether that is a good or bad thing depends entirely on one's point of view and which side of the constancy you're on...;)
