What I Did Today

My day consisted of taking my house-guests out for a very local SE PDX tour. We first zipped along Clinton Ave and through the high-mid 30's (#'d streets) 'til we reached Hawthorne Blvd. After bfast at Cup 'n' Saucer, we spent many hours roaming up and down HB, checking out all sorts of shops I'd not ventured into before, along w/a few old standbys. 'Twas quite enjoyable, even as my shopping quota's now full up 'til the end of the year...and beyond.
Very nice having fambily visit, even if'n for just a quick weekend. O'morrow AM we get up early to drive up the Columbia Gorge. My step-sis and step-niece will run the CG 1/2 Marathon (plus 3 extra miles as that'll keep 'em on their training schedule for the upcoming Honolulu marathon), while my step-bro-in-law'll run 'til he's done (10K or so). I'll wave 'em g'bye and halloo and take along a good book to read while they're out on the race course. May also walk to the good art/bookshop and/or Nekkid Winery in downtown Hood River, as it's <1.5 miles from the race start & finish point.
We'll probably hit Powell's downtown o'morrow afternoon, then Voodoo Donuts on our way to PDX so they can fly back to the Bay Area.
Getting more boxes unpacked this weekend at Hive Magnum as well, which feels good. Having folks over provides me w/good, immediate incentive - along w/some direction. Current/recent focus: getting the kitchen more under control so cooking (or at least coffee & tea & toast-making) can occur.
