My New Home
Jul. 10th, 2013 07:53 pmSo, here's the reveal on the past month-ish of cryptic posts: I bought a house! This all happened pretty quickly. I first decided that yeah, it's high time I buy a house and saw this place on Monday, 3 June 2013. Escrow opened a month ago and closed today. Now I've got the keys and'll head over and spend the night in a bit, even though I won't move in fully 'til late August. So much to do (and so much already on the schedule, such as FaerieWorlds, a wedding in NoCal, &c.) Eep!
I'll get professional movers for the big move itself, but if'n you've got time 'n' energy 'n' desire, I would love and greatly appreciate help w/packing stuff up over the next month. Pizza/salad/whatEVER & beer on me!
It feels oh-so-good to put down roots here in Portland. I've long known it's where I wanted to be and live and spend my time. For quite a while I found myself torn with much of my attention drawn Northward. That's no more, and while I've got Dear Friends up yonder, PDX is home and where I'm settling in solidly. Eventually I'll get kittenheads, at which point it'll be well and truly HOME.
This is particularly exciting because I've always rented. Growing up, my parents always rented, too. Heck, Mom & J just bought their current (and first and so far only) house a dozen or so years ago, when she was nearly 60.
Amusingly enough, yesterday marked the 10th anniversary of my first ever new car purchase. Previously I'd driven hand-me-downs or older vehicles on which I'd spent a combined total of $6K. 223,444 miles later, the Mobile Hive aka the Burro(w) still serves me well!
Squeeeeeeeee!
