We're OFF...Soon

mlerulesTaking off for points Northward in another few hours. I'm apparently up early. Bounced up before 5am, actually. Hmm, guest I best turn off my alarum as it's currently set to turn on the radio in another hour or so.
Gonna shower, then give the plants inside and out a shower, too, as it's expected to hit 85 here today. Final packing (ice chest, pillows for tonight's & Sunday night's cabin o-nites, &c.) remains.![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
delerium3 will arrive at 10am for breakfast and to stuff her stuff into the Mobile Hive as well. Then we're off for the 2nd Annual b-day camping trip in the Olympic Peninsula (this time a couple weeks early).
First stop: Kitchen Dances, where Piper's partner Mandy has made us the b-day cake: strawberry coconut vegan cheesecake (as per the b-day gal's expressed desire). Mmmm! We had this post-ATC hike a while back and it's darned numbly.
Around the time we leave Portland (shortly after 11am),lightfoote & wildwoosi will leave CopperMoon. We'll convene at the Wilderness Center/Ranger Station in Pt Angeles, WA for wildnerness permits and bear canisters, then hitMichael's for Happy Hour dinner, and finally caravan to the Lost Resort for dessert at the shared rustic cabin where we'll spend the night. (This way we avoid having to pitch tents and then de-camp and pack up damp tents right before the early morning start tomorrow.)
Tomorrow: get up early, chow down on granola (homemade bylightfoote himself) & hard-boiled eggies, head to the North shore of Lake Ozette, load the boats (Green Hornet & Princess Aurora), and paddle out to Erickson's Bay to set up camp, our home away from home for the next several days (Th - Sun). We'll do more canoodling, hike to the ocean, commune w/Nature, &c. Oh, I'm SO looking forward to this!
Sunday morning we'll decamp, paddle back, reload the vehicles, and caravan to Sol Duc for more hiking (mmm, waterfall), much soaking in hot water at the mineral springs, and spend a final night in a cabin w/showers & a full kitchen & real beds. Balance in all things...
Will return home again on Monday, 11 July 2011. 'Til then we'll be outta cell range while camping, not that it matters much anyway since my cell phone's nearly dead now anyhoo (battery reads Low despite being plugged into the wall charger...where it's been for the past 8 or so hours). I'll deal w/that later...next week...or so.
Oh, until pics get posted from this year's b-day excursion, here're some from (a) the recent prelim excursion to Erickson's Bay in Tigger by me 'n'lightfoote, (b) we3's Spada Lake canoe 'n' kayak outing last year (Green Hornet & Snuffkin, and (c) last year's b-day camping excursion to the Hoh Rain Forest.
