After soaking in hot water this evening whilst gazing up at the stars, achieving a complete 'n' total state of mellow in the process, I declared that I really wanted a good view. Lo and behold,

jaylake delivered up the goods, far better than I'd imagined! How can I have lived here for four years and not even heard of this place? Why have I not visited before? Oh, now I've got a new place to take outta town guests (unless the weather's really gray out, in which case it's not gonna be worth it.

Balancing against this new-to-me goodness, The Hat (pictured in the icon) has finally departed for good. I think the Call of Canadian Cthulhu ended up being just too strong. I'd untied it from my belt loop this afternoon when it began raining while we were out out walking. The was a pretty spectacular full double-rainbow! I tucked the hat into my raincoat to keep it dry in case I needed it later. At some point I apparently took off the raincoat. (Yeah, the rain'd stopped, but the gorgeous rainbow continued for a while longer...wacky!) Once I realized it was missing (quite a number of blocks along in our walkies), we backtracked & retraced our steps all the way back to the Hive, but saw no sign of it. *sigh*

The hat is dead, long live the hat!
