Rainbow Carnage & Cherry Poppin' Fun

This evening I dabbled in some of my all-time favorite hobbies: pushing envelopes, stirring pots, exposing people to new things aka cherry popping, and watching reactions. I took LJ-free James to experience the Bagdad Theatre's Annual Hedwig & The Angry InchSing-A-Long.
He'd not seen it before and knew nada about it. Although he had seen Rocky Horror twice before, he neither appreciate nor liked it. He's a somewhat straight-laced local (WA) boy with longings for sophistication. Furthermore, he generally doesn't like musicals.
I said I'd buy his ticket and he/we could leave whenever. It unnerved him, even as it yet intrigued him. I spent much of the film watching his reactions (and singing along). Afterward, he declared it a far better film than Rocky Horror. His take on it was...interesting. He missed (as in didn't quite "get") chunks of it, but we were in the 3rd row, it was his first time, folks were singing along, and the film started after a costume contest which made little sense to him since he knew nothing 'bout the film/concept/conceit. I had a GREAT time!
I am pleased.
