Apparently sometimes what's needed to get me going is to have success in one area. I managed this morning to make it so I can listen to my iTunes (w/all the music stored on the external hard drive) from/with/on my laptop when the external hard drive's over there across the room plugged into the Hub/Airport EXTREME!
I'm not sure, however how to EJECT it (from my laptop) before physically unplugging it - and I'm pretty sure I need to do so. I may have to EJECT the entire Airport EXTREME! and then re-install/remind the laptop that it's there later. That's another bridge to cross when I get to it. I AM gonna do all the downloading of music directly to the external hard drive when it's physically connected to my laptop to avoid any cable/modem issues (such as dropping out when I'm in the middle of burning a CD), but at least in the interim when I'm not actively engaged in this (on-going huge-@ss) project I can move my laptop around the Hive (into the bedroom or up into the attic) and still have music available to me.
Somehow figuring this out provided me w/SOMETHING (motivation, get-up-and-go, whatEVER) I needed, b'c right after that I knocked two (2) other things off my ToDo list which I really don't think I'd've gotten around to for a while. So, lesson learned (or hypothesis suggested at least): the taste of success will breed the desire for more (or at least get me going on things, which IS my goal, after all).
Now to stop w/the channeling of the felines today (much cat-napping) and get dressed and fed and on w/other things on the ToDo list. Feeling so good and accomplished so far today (w/out a whole lot of effort, really) that I know I'll get stuff done which thrills me to bits!
