It felt SO good today b'c I managed to shift/copy (I really don't know which) all the music from the olde/other external hard drive onto my new iTunes-folder hard drive. This MIGHT mean I now have all the music from the desktop 'puter upstairs, but I need to double check to be sure. What I do know is that quantity of music has risen/swollen from just under 300GB to just under 320GB (just over 17,000 items). I still need to get a 400-800 FireWire cable-thingie to get at the stuff on iTunes from my olde laptop. I've also begun the process of ripping/burning/downloading/whassitcalled'ing my own CDs into iTunes. I've got approx 700 CDs, but some'll be repeats of what I've already got in iTunes. And really, it'd be best to go through 'em and only rip those songs I like off a mess of 'em. This is the sorta judgment though that I ain't up for unless I'm fresh. NOT now!

There's a fly in the ointment, however. My iPod's not playing nice w/my thingie what should play my iPod through my stereo. Dunno whassup w/this. It's worked fine when I've plugged in and played both [livejournal.com profile] ferociousbcycad and [livejournal.com profile] tanukigreen's players, so hopefully there's something simple going on..or else a HUGE part of this entire equation's gone wonky. I really wanna shift all my CDs upstairs so they're not taking up part of a wall downstairs. If'n I cannot listen to the music on 'em easily on/through the stereo, however - b'c it's got much better sound than my laptop does - well, well...that'd be bad.

I do hope it's not b'c I'm not saving/encoding the music files as mp3 (or mp4 or whatEVER) files but instead as/in Apple Lossless format. My iPod works just fine in the car stereo though - via cassette-tape plug-in - so I dunno whassup w/the home stereo plug-in thingie.

I am sooo not a tech person, but....

I've just had such a project performed on my iTunes collection, and the files that were unrecoverable were the ones that were *not* in mp3 format. I've had much more success importing everything in mp3 format.

Luckily everything's working just spiffily now, w/out any mp3's, so I'll just stick w/my preferred format. :-)

Dunno whassup w/the iPod-stereo connection, but I imagine it's operator-error and I'll figure it out eventually.
