Soup to Nuts

I'm very pleased w/myself, b'c I made soup today - without leaving the house to get anything. The stock's what I made after Thanksgiving then froze. The carrots're from our CopperMoon garden (both fresh in fridge and some of the dehydrated ones) went well for flavor and color (purple-skinned orange-core slices look so pretty). I've now emptied the fridge of cabbage and jalapenos and reduced my stock of onions, garlic, and ginger. I tore the buttermilk batter off the leftover chicken (from Sunday's breakfast of numbly Chicken & Waffles from the Screen Door), chopped it up, and tossed it in. (IT = the leftover chicken, NOT the batter ;-) The soup's quite tasty...and I've got more for dinner tonight (and likely lunch tomorrow). Does someone wanna come over to help me eat it up?
I cannot help but grin like a loon whenever I look over at the small bookcase now housing the modem, router, land-line phone, remotes, printer paper, stereo speaker, &c. It's SO much nicer than the dust-bunny breeding ground of carp littering the floor & the top of the stereo cabinet. And now I've got remote printing & a much more reliable internet connection WITH SECURITY and and and Thanks for all this to
lightfoote, the Energizer bunny who gets stuff done and inspires me to do more/better. My life's much richer for his presence in't.
Now it's a lovely sunny day out, in the low 50s, so I'm going walkies before returning to the Hive and getting more stuff done. (I read all of Neil Gaimon's Neverwhere last night so don't need another reading fix...for another few hours at least ;-)

Date: 2010-01-20 05:26 am (UTC)Yay! I too like to be involved in recurrent things-that-make-me-feel-part-of-community. I think I have work meetings scheduled again next Tuesday into the evening hours, but hopefully after that I'll be able to make it out.
