I can tell I'm just now starting to feel myself after the cold (illness not weather) and its lethargy. All of a sudden I had the mad urge to dress like a pirate and head Northward for NYEve w/good peeps up in WA. Then I realized that my real preference is to usher in 2010 as I hope to spend it: by staying local. I'm quite happy right here in my newly adopted (nearly three years ago) home-town of Portland, OR.
I've got various options available, from hanging out w/various sets of friends, to going out for music or to a local fave restaurant, to comedy down at the Bagdad Theater, to an evening of snuggling w/the kittenheads and bubble-bathing while devouring The Lovely Bones so I've finished it by the time the film makes to my local 2nd run theaters.
This means not seeing my Loves or as many of my friends as I could, but it also means putting my stated desires into action, focusing on enjoying being here/the Hive/home and lessening the exhaustion of travel (I DO have a week in SoCal coming up real soon). Yesterday helped, as I got to see Dear Friends locally, hanging out & catching up, when my local travels had me taking Kleenex & soup-fixin's over to
delerium3 @ the Petting Zoo, then meeting up w/
poeticlioness &
ferociousbcycad and learning of a new dive before sharing one of my faves (Sapphire Hotel) w/them. And today, tonight, and this weekend will further the progress of Living Locally & BAPAMAP.
My travels will take me more to unexplored territory (bits of B.C., camping in OR & WA, &c.) than along well-worn paths. I will continue making treks to CopperMoon, 'specially for CuM projects (garden stuff, &c.), but likely not as often as the past couple of years.
