Okay, I've managed to ground two (2) ducks from the current juggling flight, shifting them from ToDo to DONE: installing MS Office and Skype onto my new MacBook Pro laptop. Now though, I'm confronted w/a more serious set of ToDo'ness involving iTunes. Basically, I'm wondering (and not finding info directly answering my question) how to have my computer "authorized" to play purchased iTunes music from more than one source. Imagine, if you will, that two (2) different people sharing one computer might want to purchase music separately (for budget/$ reasons), yet'd like to play all the music on one single computer. Seems like this'd require the computer/iTunes be authorized twice, once per person. Yet it seems tied to Apple IDs which seem to work only one per computer. *sigh* Hmm, I think I have an idea of how to check something along such lines, but first I must get iTunes set up to look at and download to the external hard drive first (I think).

I have yet to tackle this item on my own ToDo list. I have all my iTunes on disc but have no idea what to do with it.

Sounds like a plan Stan. ;o)

It looks like you can have multiple accounts authorized on one computer. The distinction is that you can only be logged in (i.e. and purchase music with) with one Apple ID at a time. If you look in the Store menu, there are separate links for signing out and deauthorizing. So one person should be able to authorize the computer, and then a second person could also authorize the computer (signing out from the iTMS first, if need be).

Ah, very interesting, this - thx SO much for the tip.

I've never actually purchased any music myself on iTunes so don't even have an account set up w/them, but'd like the option if'n I decided to start down that slippery (checking account depleting!) slope.

Are you trying to share music between different itunes accounts on the same computer? Like this (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1203)?

Hmm, I don't think that's what I'm doing...but need to look at it a bit more to be sure what exactly I'm trying to do, as I don't really have the language/terminology to explain whassup...sigh. Thx for the link, though, as it'll give me more to chew on in trying to figure things out.
