I like listening to - and feeling - drumming. This evening I got to sit outside in the amphitheater by the oh-so-lovely Portland Rose Gardens for great free performances by Portland Taiko and Mizu Desierto Butoh Theatre. Nine (9) of us who met for potluck picnic dinner - along w/the other hundreds of people of all ages who showed up - thx again,
dwights for organizing this part of the experience - had a delightful time. I recognized most of the folks in our group from
dwights and spouse's potlucks and/or from ecstatic dance.
It began sprinkling then eventually pouring down rain, but we (
dwights & I) were prepared w/umbrellas. Luckily for us all, one of the food vendors happened to have a half-dozen extra pavilions in his truck which he lent to Portland Taiko so they could perform 'n' play underneath 'em on the stage. Drums do NOT like rain, ya' know. If'n I weren't leaving in the morning and didn't have a bit more to pull together this evening, I'd've joined the gang afterwords for soaking the hot tub and enjoying port and chocolate. Another time I shall not decline the offer.
I'm hoping to be gone and off-line Th afternoon 'til sometime on Friday or possibly Saturday (when I return to the Hive), but this ultimately depends on whether the weather cooperates. It's raining pretty solidly now. I'm not sure which way this system's heading. If North (like me), then I might not be gone (off-line) so much at all after all.
