Today's accomplishments included weeding the corn patch, weaving the soaker hoses all throughout the corn for ease of watering, planting beans/peas next to the corn (2 of 3 sisters now in place), planting the 3rd wave of lettuce/spinach/mustard, watering corn 'n' new beans/peas, new lettuce/spinach/mustard, and the greenhouse, photo-documenting the garden some (Clickie for Some Pickies of the CopperMoon Garden), doing misc other weeding, helping [livejournal.com profile] lightfoote create drainage and more paths 'tween beds, updating on-line garden log, and finally harvesting broccoli, mustard greens, cress, and garlic tops out of which I made numbly slaw for dinner along w/leftover turkey soup and garlic bread. It feels really good 'n' productive 'n' healthy 'n' nice working together to grow a garden and feasting from it. Sleep now beckons...

Yeah, it takes a while to get growing going here, but once it gets going/growing, ZOOM! Each meal these days must include fresh greenery or we get overwhelmed. Glad it's supposed to warm up (into the 70s) again after today, as temps in the 50s/60s don't do much for the corn's growth. The strawberries're particularly deliciously sweet 'n' tasty. They were rescued from one of the former owner's garden beds (now filled w/veggies) and stuck into two 5-gallon tubs flanking the front door/porch/stairs...boy-howdy I'm glad we saved 'em! Gonna go check out the orchard in a bit. *fingers crossed for fruit this year*

Sounds marvelous. We're doing the same here, with lots of transplanting into containers for companion planting, just in case of relocation; corn, beans and squash are next on the To Do list. Happy gardening! ;o)
