If you're participating I'd say glitter body lotion, no bra and a fairly short, thin summer skirt. That way the strippers can play with you, a bit. Don't let them take your panties! If they do get removed, don't sit down ANYWHERE! The hand sanitizer is a good bit of advice -Oh and don't under any circumstances eat the chips or whatever offered at the tables.

I've been told that it is rude to bring your own stripper pole, but I've never been to a strip club, only a couple of shows in Vegas -- and in those cases (except for the moment when I was selected by a 300 pound stipper to get a lap dance), I was paying much more attention the lighting and production design than the actual show or what the audience was wearing.

I would say something comfy and "nice" but not over-dressed (i.e. not a tux or gown...but also not pjs or jeans or shorts if you're going to nice clubs)...perhaps what you might dress in if you were going to a bachelorette party? I would possibly avoid the long glittery false lashes and false-nails like claws because then you might be out-doing the dancers. But then I've never been to a strip club...have a good time.

To actually answer: I'll agree with Von. What makes you feel sexy. Add a touch of "I want to be here" with a touch of class. (However, the top hat might be troublesome as it tends to block the view of those behind you.) Anything that differentiates you in every way, shape and form from the frat boy/bachelor party/desperate creepiness. And of course, bring lots and lots of ones.

Also, since Caliban isn't here, I present you with the four rules.
Going to a strip club is like going to Disneyland.
1. Always go with friends. It's about sharing the experience more than it is going to the place. And going by yourself is sad.
2. Always bring a set amount of money. Of all the fights I have seen after a guy goes to a strip club, the #1 reason is over-spending. (#2 is usually "and you didn't invite me?" with "And you did WHAT?" a distant 3rd)
3. Remember you are entering a fantasy and make-believe. That isn't the real Matterhorn, and neither are those. Her name's not really Jennifer and she's not doing this to pay for med school.
4. Keep your arms and hands within the ride vehicle at all times unless instructed otherwise by the ride operator.

I say wear something fun and sexy, but comfortable. Strippers often appreciate seeing other females in the club.
Tips:
if you sit at the rail, tip at least a dollar a song. If you like her, of course you can give more, but a dollar a song is usually the polite amount.

Sometimes, btw, she IS paying for med school ;)

A genuine smile that denotes your healthy respect for the choices these women are making, even if they're not choices you'd make. And a grimace for anyone buying into negative sex worker stereotypes and/or making judgments about them based on the one aspect of their lives they've paid to see.

As far as clothing, if you are at all interested in a lap dance, smooth, frictionless clothing (i.e. no extraneous buttons or zippers or anything else that will get in the way). Also something with pockets for the ones and fives. I prefer pants, as I'd rather not have my skirt hike up during a lap dance and make myself any more of a spectacle than a woman getting a lap dance inherently is.

Oh, and regarding the cleanliness of such places, if a club's worth a damn, they'll sanitize the pole between dancers. And your contact with the dancers is more likely to be extremely limited, and have no fluid exchange. Save the hand sanitizer and antibiotics for any contact with the unwashed masses who aren't tipping and wonder why the ladies pay no attention to them.
