A Mindful Qx Meme
Apr. 20th, 2009 12:16 pmThx to
ratchick for this:
Nithya Shanti recently asked this question:
What are the top 5 or 10 daily disciplines that would make every day a happy day irrespective of outer circumstances and would gently culminate into the deep contentment of knowing your life was well lived?
Feel free to share. Nithya seems to think there will be commonalities among people's answers.
Well, I'll be thinking about this, pondering, ruminating on more over the next however long. I've practiced these (below) periodically. This exercise reminds me that knowing's not the same as doing. Looking forward to adding back in #1. Have been using #3 (daily walkies) to search for a resource for #2, but am newly motivated to search even more diligently a tad further afield (somewhere up in Mt Tabor Park per
delerium3, a World-Class Wanderer in her own right).
(1) Before falling asleep, think of a wonderful/positive/bright memory from the day. (Knowing you're gonna do this helps you pay attention to 'em during the daytime.)
(2) Swinging on a swingset for 10-20 minutes a day.
(3-5 or more) Check on and thereby connect w/living things close-by: walk your neighborhood and see the seasons shift, see stuff sprout and green and grow and/or climb a hill and enjoy a view and/or sit in the sunshine and/or pet the kittenheads 'til purr's achieved and/or play w/the doggerals and/or touch and talk to your plants and see how they're doing (ideally thriving with neither neglect nor over-watering) and/or hug your sweetie-pie(s), tousle their hair, caress their cheeks, smooch their lips - somehow physically remind yourself and your sweeties 'bout your care and concern and love.

Date: 2009-04-20 07:58 pm (UTC)Ooooh, napping and sleeping plenty - yeah, that's a good one. I did that Saturday night. Rather than go out for music, I crashed 'round 9pm and slept through 'til 'bout 7am. Felt SO good.
