Fishing

Okay, so I haven't been fishing in years. Well, more like DECADES. I seem to recall just tossing the piece of string (line) w/a hook on it into the water and holding onto the stick (pole) on the other and waiting for the fish to bite. There's a story mom tells of me doing this and catching a fish when everyone else on the river was getting nothing. I think I was five. I've only been fishing one other time, somewhere in/near Carmel, when I caught a fish that'd just been eaten by another fish, so I got to pull the one out of t'other's mouth. (I'm not counting visiting the stocked pond a few times in Junior High.)

Going fishing in WA seems slightly more complicated today. Mebbe I'll just stick to boating and give the fishing a miss.

Fishing... I think small water bombs should be legal for that. Just toss the sucker in the lake, it goes "boom" and the fish are killed instantly. Then you just motor by and scoop them up in a net. Ya see, it's just that the little fish gasping for air that gets to me. You know when you pull them out the water(with a barbed metal hook that's ripped its cheek open) and then they look up at you with wide eyes. Their little gills straining to breath... Ok I have to stop. Boating sounds good : )

Actually, I'm more interested in "going fishing" than in actually catching any fish. I'm not actually overly interested in gutting & cleaning fish (or mopping up residue from fish bombs), although eating 'em's okay.
