We saw a whole series of slogans/ad/marketing-type things for Instant Coffee when we were up in Vancouver, BC (as well as an art installment at the Vancouver Art Gallery which was likely NOT part of this campaign, but prolly would be if'n they were to find out about it). THIS sheds light on what was up.

When I worked for Starbucks, things like this didn't impress me at all. They have a good brew, they keep trying to reach out for different groups of people, and as a result, they are now closing over 600 stores nationwide, and putting lot's of people out of work. However, I know from past experience, that they will try to find a place for the workers they want to keep, and will let the others go. I'm of the opinion (yes, it's my own personal opinion) that if you have something that works, market it, and keep at it. There really isn't a necessity to "keep up with the Jones'" except for major market greed. But again, this was an interesting article, and yes, for the most part, their coffee is too strong for my taste, that is why the rare occasion when I go in to one of the stores and order coffee, I always ask for a drip coffee, with about an inch of hot water added to the top. It knocks off the strong acid taste, and I get what I pay for.
