My handy-dandy desk calendar has just informed me that today's Flag Day. This means absolutely nothing to me. Nonetheless, we're celebrating w/a deadly delicious concoction of freshly squozed tangerines (and a bit of frsh sqz lemon j & orange j), fresh picked mulberries, white rum & ice. The Sour Cream-Orange cake's in the oven...no guarantees, although the batter sure tastes numbly. It's my first scratch cake in approx 1 year and a new recipe for me (thx Moosewood). Fingers crossed. Have ditched the zuchinni & egg crust pizza (too many things req'd in the oven at once) in favor of the pasta sauce I just whipped up (onions & garlic, tom sauce, stewed toms, tempeh, red wine, a dash of sugar, freshly ground pepper, thyme & oregano) which would've gone on top of the pizza but will now go on top of pasta, along w/sauteed shrooms & crookneck squash. I do so love Tuesdays. Must off to snack a bit more on salty garlicy olives & goat cheese topped w/fire roasted olive oil drenched garlic infused toms...
