Home now for a few days in a row. How delightful (if odd). How odd it's odd. How delightful it's delightful. My dance card for August has filled up nicely. All weekends = booked. Now I'm starting to look into September's b-day celebrations. I'll be gone from approx September 6 - 20, 2007. Vague plan: head South slowly through redwoods and along the coast, stopping off to see fambily and friends in the Bay Area and perhaps Central Coast, then hit SoCal for several days before blazing back home.

Lovely clear blustery day out. In the mid-70s. Getting stuff done, but taking it easy, too.

I LURV Mendo, but haven't been since last summer - enjoy! What's the occasion?

Ah...nice. One reason I'm starting to map out where I'll be when is that I'd like to stay at the Lodge at Noyo Harbor (which tends to book up fully ahead of time during the summer) and eat at Chapter & Moon. Lovely area. Did you grow up 'round there?

Thx for the reco - appreciated. When/where were you in Berkeley? That's where I was born and raised (mostly Southside).

I note that your LJ profile lists Moonintrolls as one of your interests. I've been hoping to find someone else who grew up w/these Tove Jansson books for YEARS, but perhaps you're referring to something else and I'm off-target.

I've always read like a fiend. We lived in W Germany when I was in 4th grade. There was a great English-language bookstore near the cathedral in Koln that we'd hit regularly - I devoured books voraciously back then - and I suppose these appeared one day in the kids' section so my 'rents got 'em for me 'cause I hadn't read 'em yet. I've got 'em right here, in fact: FFM, The Exploits of Moominpappa, and Comet in M-land. Guess it's time to reread 'em - it's been decades since I did.

All the books I read that year rank amongst my all-time faves, although it took me several more years to complete what ended up as my #1 fave for years and years (e.g., Bram Stoker's Dracula - I loved the first few chapters - J Harker's journal - but got stuck going further back then).
