The archeology continues. Layers upon layers of who I've been and who I am get stripped away as I remember what I read. 'Cause I still have all the books. Dozens upon dozens, hundreds, prolly thousands of volumes.

Why keep the kids' books? Some're for my nieces and nephews when they come visit, as my grandparents kept young adult novels for me and my cousins (some of which I now have). Others...well, apparently I'm not fully convinced that I won't end up involved w/someone w/kids, or something. Yeah, I'm making a stack of books for certain kids who I'm close to, but...but there're far more still.

The best part of student teaching was reading aloud to the classroom. Heck, I like reading aloud and being aloud to with adults, too. Aaaaahhhh, must get back at it...

Why keep them? Because you CAN! To me, the idea of de-cluttering is not getting rid of too much, just getting rid of the useless crap. Keep them for YOU. My e.b. white books are still some of my most prized possessions...

Enjoy your time with them!

True. But some, such as Bob: Son of Battle or Benjamin Spock: A Teenager's Guide to Life & Love, I just don't need.

Actually, though, thx much for the sentiment. It makes it easier not to feel guilty for hanging on to stuff. And I finally DO have the space for everything. Now to lug more boxes up in to the attic/office.

My wife and I still have our first books that we each got as tikes, they are framed hanging side by side on the wall of the household library.

And what, pray tell, might these volumes be?
