The movers emptied the truck in 2.5 hours! Nothing noticeable appears broken or scratched. I've spot-checked a couple of FRAGILE boxes and all's well so far. Significantly, the bunny clock thingie (see icon) made it unscathed. Thx again to my worker-bee friends who did such a rip-roaringly splendid job of packing my stuff!

Feeling quite good 'bout everything now. Apparently my late night worries were for naught...unless they somehow helped stave off any major moving disaster(s). Can/does worry amount to praying? Does/can it make as much of a difference as praying? I know I've got an in w/parking gods to whom I appeal as needed who apparently heed my wishes, but I'm not sure beyond that how to make my desires manifest, even if'n this does appear to happen fairly often, certainly of late. Hmm, perhaps they've been pleased (Parking Gods) b'c I've managed to achieve a major life goal of living in a city w/public-transportation and a neighborhood w/lots w/in walking distance.

Anyway, I'm quite pleased now as well b'c when I got here yesterday (or rather, as the eve wore on and my former/inner-but-usually-quelled mega-worrier-self reared its silly l'il head) I started worrying heavily/minorly freaking out 'bout the discrepancy in size/space 'tween the old apartment and the new house. WTF?! Luckily 'twas merely my lack o' spatial sense (exacerbated by sheer exhaustion - or vice versa) rather than a real issue. Managed to get everything from my LARGE bedroom closet and decent sized hall closet into the two (2) ground level bedroom closets, which means I still have the attic bedroom closet for costuming stuff. Yay! I figure I've been packing up for weeks now, so it'll take some time to get everything put away. I'll likely end up chucking some stuff, 'cause really, it's just not all necessary.

It's been a lovely sunny day. Now some cloud patches are making an appearance. Off for chow now. Pics later of current phase.

So is the Coast Guard stuff in PDX or elsewhere? Might you be interested in hanging out some and/or staying here when you're up (and if so, when)? I cannot quite tell where you'll be or whether you'll be busy 24/7 from this schedule, but it seems as if you might be all tied up w/test stuff. Speaking of which, good luck on the tests!

Oh it must be nice to have the majority (if not the entirety) of the moving done. Now it's just a matter of getting everything unpacked and placed in it's perfect location.

And that, fortunately enough, has no timetable.

I can't say it enough - congratulations.

Absolutely amazing. I have heard so many horror stories about movers -- I am so glad you had the miricle of everything making it to Portland. You are truly blessed.

This was the one company for which I'd gotten a GREAT recommendation from good friends who'd used 'em for their move - they'd gotten good recos 'bout 'em, too. If'n you know anybody in SoCal who needs to move (local or long distance from SoCal), tell 'em to go to Redondo Van & Storage.

Hope to see you sometime soon-ish.

Welcome to your new home! *Hugs* Have you seen the water falls yet? Summer and I would be happy to take you away for a few hours and show you... just let us know when! (We're not busy!) Hehehe...

PS ~ It's only 15 minutes away. But I mention a couple of hours so there's no rush to get back. :-)

Sounds great...once I'm settled in some, however, as I'm still surrounded by piles, albeit shrinking ones. Best wishes w/all you're doing. Sometimes in life we need a nudge. Intel booted you and my landlord sold the place in SoCal...you and I are each growing from the experience. Huzzah to future growth and progress towards goals!
