It'd be hell of a lot easier not to have to reformat & reprint the address book for my 2007 PaperPalm(tm) and to store all such info electronically, although I think I'd still like a paper copy handy, too, for when power's out, internet access is wonky, batteries're dead, whatEVER. So, the qx becomes, WHERE do I store this info? Do I break down and get some sorta PalmPilot or whatever the initials are for Palm Devices or whatnot? Do I use something accessible on-line? How secure it this? Doesn't seem so good 'cause there're times when I'm not in Wireless zones. Do I stick it in the address book on my laptop? Can I go between different places and keep the info up to date? (Synching, I think it's called.) Thoughts, tips, hints, suggestions appreciated.

Damn. *tearing hair & kicking & whining into the 21st century*

I absolutely LOVE Google Calendar. It is WONDERFUL.

I still use a Paper Palm when I'm afk, though. :)

Yeah, I quite like GoogleCal for scheduling things but will prolly also continue to keep a PaperCal as well. My main concern now is Address Book stuff. I've gotten to know so many new folks this past year that it's taking a hell of a long time to type 'em all in as a Word document. Plus my printer's majorly jammed so I can't print anything now anyway. And I'm worried that to make it fit into the PaperPalm(tm) I'll have to use 9-pt font which might be too tiny. Yeah, I'm a whiny zombie today...sorry. Hmm, I guess I could have two different Paper thingiemabobs, one a calendar and the other an address book, but I SO like keeping quantities low and using space-savings devices as much as possible. *sigh*

I've been slowwwwly migrating my contact information from books and scraps of paper into my Google Contacts. I think such things are better to have electronically, because there's just way too much white-out in my paper address book.

Ah, so it's called Google Contacts - I figured there was such a thing but hadn't found it yet. Thx! Oh, does it seem secure-ish to you? 'Cause I'm still a bit wary 'bout putting all sorts o' info on-line for trolls, SPAMMERS, ID-stealers, and other @ss-hat types to find/use. I'm not so concerned 'bout calendar stuff b'c it's fairly innocuous.

Okay, I give - WHERE 'xactly does one find Google Contacts. A quick Google search revealed nothing of immediate value, sadly 'nuff. :-(

Oh...I should've said Gmail Contacts. :) It's as secure as any e-mail account, I should think...

Okay, that makes sense. 'Cept I don't have a Gmail account. Mebbe it's Mac-ready now. 'Twasn't a year or so ago. Thx for indulging me...

I use the calendar, address book, note pad, and briefcase in Yahoo. I also store as much info as I can hold in my cheapo Nokia phone. I also use (as a paper palm) a Moleskine. I used to use Palms but they do not seem to get along well with Macs anymore. The Mac will jack up the syncing and try to load iCal and the Mac contact program stuff instead of the Palm Desktop stuff. There are some hacks out there to take care of that, but I have not had the time to mess with it. (Maybe I only need to re-install the Palm software.)

Thx for input - appreciated. Yeah, I keep ph #s in my cell as well, but not address info. The prospect of typing everything twice does NOT appeal. Now I've got all the olde info on the Word document so need only update w/new stuff. Shifting everything over to Yahoo'd be a pain...but mebbe there's a way of printing out from there nicely & neatly or something. Oh, turns out MEF's White Council's on 1/20/07, so it's more likely I'll head Northward THEN rather than a week earlier. ... Bleh. Don't like being sick. Much better now, but still a tad under the weather. ... Meanwhile, miss you muchly, m'dear. Wishing you and yours well over the holidaze.
